Australia is home to classic signs to take a pic of your rig in front of. Like the border signs, WA/SA, NT/WA etc and the 90 Mile Straight. Which awesome Aussie have you managed to get a pic of.
Ensure when taking photo's in some rural towns there is sometimes graffiti evident beneath and behind the photo opportunity - It happened to us at the beautiful profiled steel signs coming into Marble Bar - some language that would make a sailor blush, unfortunately we never noticed until later so photos were unusable.
I have seen it elsewhere as well coming into some towns with high indigenous populations mainly.

I Photoshop out offensive stuff if needed.
Or try to photograph the car in a position to tell a different story!
Laverton to Alice Springs , is one of the very few routes that I haven't done on my bike, that I would love to do. On the Tanami, I carried 45 litres of water on the bike as well as my dog trailer, and was lucky that it rained half way thru the track. I had to use my Sawyer filter though as the water was very muddy. I also took a box of apples with me for the mules that I was sure were out there, and I was not disappointed. I had one follow me for a fair while, the outcome for him of which is another story. It was a good outcome, but too much to write about here.

It's basically a Ford with a Ford Ecoboost 2.0L petrol engine, with some Volvo bits.
Enough 2WD Fords & Holdens driven by locals along that road. I only saw one idiot who was absolutely flying. Probably didn't let his tyres down either..... Almost forgot, probably like him..... Towing a caravan!

On the Oodnadatta Track, maybe 25 years ago.
The sign has been stolen many times unfortunately.

Crossing the border from the NT back into SA on the Stuart Highway on our honeymoon in 1967. It was "tradition" at that time to push the car across the border. I needed to take the pic of course.
Traffic was not a problem.

Peter

After looking through some of my photos I've come to the conclusion I take plenty of "signs" photos but not with our vehicle in them.
Peter n Margaret - the Ayres Rock Mount Olga sign brought back memories. I was there in either 1973 or 1974 - memory is failing me on the year at the moment and I will have to check my old photo albums.
Cheers.

This sign at the entrance of Willow Springs in the Flinders Ranges is awesome! The 4WD tracks are also great with beautiful views over the ranges.
Tropic of Capricorn in Namibia, Africa. Between Windhoek and Sossusvlei. The birds nests are made by Sociable Weavers, they can get so heavy the branch can break off.
Like Peter's, some encouragement to widen your horizons
You would think it wasn't necessary to tell the citizens of the greatest nation on earth that it isn't a good idea to set up a camp fire on a bitumen parking lot. All the burnt spots say otherwise
Chile is a very confusing place
Chile could be called "The land of signs" - and even when they can't think of a name for a bridge, the solution is simple - give it the name of "Bridge with no name".
But of course then it does have a name so is not a bridge with no name is it?

No car in front of the sign, but I'm sure others have seen the irony of the juxtaposition!

Not a sign as such, but since we were locked in Victoria we did some of the silo art trail...
