'South Australians will need a specific exemption to return home from Victoria from 6:00pm Sunday as the COVID-19 situation deteriorates in the eastern state, the state's Police Commissioner says.
It puts Victoria on par with New South Wales, where some SA residents have been stranded for weeks waiting for permission to come back.'
Good to see SA is prepared to make the hard decisions, perhaps NSW would not be in the position it now finds its self had they acted earlier.

I am sorry, but I cannot support banning residents from returning to their home state.
At worst, they should be allowed back, with 14 days quarantine and the 3 tests on days 1,5 and 13.
I shudder where we may find ourselves when this is all over.

Unfortunately some do not stay home, and go out and spread the virus if infected, police check twice during their stay at home and sometimes residents are missing.
We even have people getting out of our medi Hotels and walking around possibly spreading covid so others will have to go to hospital and possibly die. Then another lockdown with an emotional and financial impact for 100,000's.

No mater what state your from we all know we are living in uncertain times and things can, do and need to change very quickly. I think that anybody that travels more than a few hours drive from their home border at moment and still expects to get home whenever they feel like it are being very foolish.
Like a lot of others I would love to be traveling at the moment but understand the need for these measures and I am not prepared to take the risk of being locked out. As it is it looks like I am probably locked in. Landy

I could not afford financially to get trapped in another state so IF I get to go anywhere again this year it will be S.A.
I'm hoping to visit the Grandkids in Vic in the Jan school holidays, but we will have to wait and see. Sooo glad I went for a quick trip in the car in April, because who knows when we will be able to go again. We we stayed home most of the time while we were there just spent quality time with the kids (3 days) then hightailed it home.

What an absolute bull crap, its not about what was done or what wasn't done in NSW, it's the morons who don't want to obey the rules that have been mandated. I'm from Vic and have to agree, just look at the idiots that protested, they should have used petrol instead of pepper spray(angry spurt), Im not on any side of government, but lets face it they are there to do a job whether we like it or not it needs to be done, the leader can only make decisions based on the information at hand or supplied. Ask yourself "would you like to be in their shoes"?
Just like that's all we can do, If you decide to leave your state then you have to take the consequences of these decisions, when I left Vic earlier this year for a trip to northern NSW it was my choice and if I was to be locked out returning that was ok because that's the choice I made. there is no use blaming people for what they have done just be happy you not sick.

I would accept locked out if it means all are locked out. We did in fact travel for nearly seven weeks in NSW and Qld this year, although well away from any affected areas, and accepted we needed to be flexible.
But in most cases, and certainly in the current SA case, locked out means locked out EXCEPT if you are facing domestic violence, a federal politician, you can justify a Health Department exemption, or you are an AFL football team, from wherever! That is selective lockout, not based on health reasons, but on subjective reasons, and cannot be defended as far as I am concerned on the basis of having the best health interests of the residents at heart. On that basis, residents deserve to be allowed home to quarantine in their home state. Show consistency, and people will accept it.
Anyway, they certainly wont listen to a disaffected resident and change things, will they.

Spray them with dye then pick them up at your leisure, I believe this has been used over sea's with a fair bit of success. All we need is a couple of detention centers. Mandatory 14 days first offense 28 days for the second and so on. No excuses, no exceptions, no privileges, do the crime do the time. Landy.

& neighbours renting in our block of units could travel overseas & had zero issues getting the paperwork to leave Australia, left a few weeks ago, & are coming back in January.
While they are on holidays in USA they have let the unit on one of the holiday rental apps. There has already had a few groups staying in their rented unit.
So a good turnover of people moving, while we have stayed put since 2019 in our mortgage free unit.
The lockdown system is broken at best!

As I type I see Mr Qantas on TV announcing how Qantas is going to give you flyer points, fuel, and a myriad of other offers to download the Qantas app and enter your vaccine credentials to be eligible.
It is in his own interest to get people moving all over the world again with little care for anything other than the profit of his company.
While there are many that want this freedom to fly I think that this type of offer does not help the current situation where we have to lockdown to prevent the spread.
My opinion is that this type of promotion is very irresponsible.
FFS it has been this unsupervised air travel that has exacerbated this entire situation in Australia

That said, I expect there will be a lot of argument firstly about 80% of what? That started yesterday when ACT Chief Minister said it should be of people 12 and older, rather than the first mooted 16 and older. I guess well see?
Also, I am yet to be convinced that all the premiers will move to open their borders. I think some, if not all, of them are starting to enjoy the control they have over people, and consider it to be the best way (lockdowns to keep their people safe) to bolster their approval ratings.
Interesting times ahead I think.
