I suggest investing in WikiCamps for all your camping needs.
Very cheap, easy to use, and fun to flick through to plan your trip.
Plenty of photos and plenty of comments, as well as listing of amenities at the sites allow you to make an educated guess as to suitability for you.

often you find somewhere and its says you have to book but they dont list a website and the filters are horrendous . lol

There are many after Geraldton heading north more than I thought. Mostly good drop dunnies. Get on the main roads wa website should be something on there.
Yes, there are a lot of rest areas up north to Coral Bay. Pretty sure you can download that guide that Stretch60 posted, I'm sure I've got it on my computer.

Quagi beach is not free but $15 per site
you may also find it difficult to get a site in the south and south west of WA, they fill up pretty fast. maybe look inland if you have problems.
do know of a few close to the coast that may suit.

I find that WikiCamps has probably the most up to date information of the free/donation/low cost/ camps
I take the reviews with a pinch of salt, because we are all different
One mans review of it being a rubbish dump, could be another mans review of it being a paradise

There are many gravel pits that are great for overnight stops, also parking area of some country town cemeteries and aerodromes (often with taps and facilities).

Janet, I wouldn't bother with filters, I just use the map and zoom in close around where you are or want to stay.
Then just look at every site in that area and have a look at the symbols to see if they suit you, if ok then go further to read reviews, prices and photos.
I usually have a look the night before we head off or maybe do a pre-planned trip before we leave home, don't try to narrow it down too much with filters.

That is the entry criterion.
WikiCamps does not show a campsite there so the very high probability is that you may not camp there and, frankly, I doubt the locals would appreciate travellers setting up camp next to their mum's grave.

A pink symbol is a caravan park, a green tent is a camping site, yellow is a day visit and blue flag is a point of interest.
There is no symbol at York Cemetery on my Wikicamps, but there is a green symbol (free camp) on the river near the centre of town, we have stayed there many times.
If you click on the symbol, read the facilities available such as cost, dogs allowed, 24 or 48 hour etc. Zoom in as close as possible and then move the map around.

Why on earth would you want to stay in their cemetery when there is an excellent free camp in centre of town. Toilets nearby, shops handy and pets are OK. Or go to Greenhills pub.Cheers

Look at all green tent sites, the one on the river near a large park is the one I'm referring to.
It near the centre of town but by the River. If you don't zoom in, there maybe numbers, as in 6 sites here.
