Tony, I cannot comment on your qualifications with Vic CFA and how you were trained before driving any unit vehicle/s. I do however know the prescribed training requirements for any Emergency Skill and all are Nationally Recognised Courses with Certification and Validity conditions.
See Legal definition of Emergency Vehicle www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/emergency-vehicle
My previous point was that qualified personnel normally see far too much of horrible situations and are aware of it's causes. If travelling at speed under lights and sirens you don't text Uber Eats to order doughnuts.

You are misunderstanding me Possum.
Prior to 2004, my last day as a volunteer firefighter, there was no training on how to drive an emergency truck while talking on a mobile phone. It could have changed since then.
If Mr Average cannot use a mobile phone while driving his car due to safety reasons, how is it allowed that he/she can be allowed legally to use same while driving a fire truck with lights and sirens?
Im well. Aware what an emergency vehicle is and using Uber as an example is belittling this discussion.

Tony, Mandatory Certifications have been around since early 90's for all emergency taskings including Advanced Driving for Drivers (Gold Card Police pursuit) the only persons Authorised to drive under lights and sirens - as have Communications Certification for all members where Cellular phone protocols/use is covered. Utilising of Uber Eats texting, for non-emergency cellular phone use was utilised as an example of spurious/needless use of the device (Which would be grounds for reprimand in all Emergency Services)
