Whinges based in the politics surrounding state based approaches to the virus don't seem to achieve much. The basis for the sharp lockdown inside the WA borders is intended to give the contact tracers and testing results the time and data to establish just how far the infection has spread. A short lockdown to establish the situation is the consistent advice from ALL the smart people providing advice to state premiers. After the lockdown is the time to address how to get the COVID free situation in the boarder community back.

Some on here need to re-invent their thought processes, imports and exports are still happening, most workers are at work. The Tourism industry is suffering, mainly those that attract overseas tourists.
As for the one (1) case in WA, that person has sixty (60) close contacts who are now self isolating. Do they have them all? That's unlikely because they still haven't located the source, has he told them everything? Past problems with security would indicate that they are at best evasive at worst liars.

Are one country or are we 6 countries and 2 territories? I feel that we are going to have to learn to live with the virus just like we live with the flu virus. It would appear that the premiers couldn't give a rats about the impact on business. The premiers seem to operate on the premise that when they have a small outbreak they slam the borders shut. Then when an election comes around they can say weren't we good in what we did, so vote us back in again.

many people would love to live in aus and put up with our start/ stop efforts, than what they have in most of the countries overseas that have lost control of the virus . they are banking on the jab saving them, or like the UK just thinking about hotel quarantine now. the PM said he hopes to have everyone that wants a vaccine done by OCT an that is still along way off
but then again we are not in a desperate situation due to some hot spot areas that have been locked down fairly quickly.

Great news the "5 day lockdown" will end at 6pm this evening. Also a good decision (in my opinion) by Premier Mark McGowan to maintain certain sensible rules for the following 8 days eg. Masks etc. as a precaution.

I think one of the mistakes we must learn from is not to wait until the horse has bolted before shutting the stable door.

Hi Landy
I agree with what you say, and will add a bit more for any unbelievers who are out there
I think one of the mistakes we must learn from is not to wait until the horse has bolted before shutting the stable door.
I think that they learned about the effectiveness of quarantine, (shutting the stable door), near the end of the Spanish Flu pandemic, just on 100 years ago
Unfortunately for whatever reasons, we had some world leaders trying to brush it under the carpet
I do recall one world leader, ignoring his health people, and saying that the "China Virus". (What sensible people know as Covid-19) was a hoax
I do recall some leaders, saying that their countries, could not afford the economic cost of lockdowns
I do recall our own leader, assisting a billionaire, to try and crack open a State border
I seem to think that if the vaccine had not arrived, then some countries who did not put a priority on shutting the stable door, would now be in dire straits

Hi Tony, Very good point you make re the PM and his billionaire mate. As a West Aussie I am Personally still very angry about that issue.
