I loved the days(70's - 90's) , when you could rock up to a National Park, just pay your money into the envelope of $5.00, it usually had a toilet, maybe a cold shower, waste bins, that were emptied, firewood, clean area, and quiet. Could stay as long as you wanted, just keep putting the money in the slot. Now that is gone, and plus you are not allowed to smoke in a park( am a smoker), can at the most only book for a week. Must do it online, so if you are out there, and have no signal, you are s..t out of luck, to stay on, or you may be just driving or riding as is in my case most of the time, and come across a park, you just cannot rock on in spontaneously anymore. You never see a ranger there, and no you must take your rubbish with you, including your toilet waste if you have one, for the greedy fee of $37.50 per night. Their is a park in our area that charges $27.50 per night, for absolutely nothing supplied, it is being closed, as it is not being used at all. It will still be a park, you just wont be able to go there. NSW National Parks Service, are raising their prices yearly, eventually, people , may only do day visits, and just not stay overnight due to costs. We do not attend/stay at parks anymore, and have not done since 2011. We stealth camp now, and in some really beautiful areas, and free camp in other open areas. This is what we will be doing indefinitely. We are pensioners, and cannot afford to do different.

We just came back from trip just under 2 weeks,would have been 3 weeks but we forgot about a doctors appointment ,only spent 2 nights in a caravan park on an unpowered site about $20 a night.
These photos are from a Free camp,everybody was having great fun,no mess,no noise at night,everyone l
You mean one can still find a space in a caravan Park or other to set up their Van lol.

funds Vs costs ?? Theres always ways of spending more , just like there is saving !! If we want too !! Ahh such is life !!! Often its the other person in your life too !!! Cant have less than 4 star !!! Lol dropping our standards !!

I thought it might be the time to take a holiday at a Whitsunday resort like we did as a newly married couple in 1969. Hayman Island was quite affordable back in those days. Looked at the costs these days and had to dismiss the idea entirely. Cheapest room about $1500pn p/p for $2000 you could get Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Daydream Island was another one of my favourites. I have stayed there a number of times over the years. Its been purchased by a Chinese Company. Reports from customers were not at all favourable. It will probably turn into another Keswick Island. Oh for the way things used to be.
