I didnt denigrate anyone or anything but you are still dividing between "respect it" or "boo". Why would I start a topic like you suggest when I do respect the forces? I have and have had relatives in the Airforce and Navy so I know what they do. Your comments are so insulting. No wonder why people leave this forum.

I would imagine that anyone showing respect on Remembrance Day on any forum would most definitely not come under the description of being a princess. That is extremely offensive to so many on here.
KevinJ, you might like to google the term, flying monkey.

Cuppa, I would have thought that, to any rational mind, it would be obvious.
I do not agree with your attempt to take Ivans initial post into areas that were inappropriate for the message he was trying to impart. I cannot be any clearer than that!
Nothing more from me, I now await the Moderators next move on this thread.

Cuppa if you or anyone reads back over your comments in this topic and in other topics in which you have had members removed then the trend I note is that you seem to have the need to antagonise a member just as you have done to others.
This may result in retaliation and then subsequently yet another member being removed on your recommendation.
Might I suggest that this is the more obvious strategy that is occurring with anyone else.
An apology is not an apology when the excuse for the original statement stands. Most can see that your words are not one of an apology but more to promote more discord with certain members.
Ivans topic subject was in no way disrespectful or in no way denigrated anyone else on this forum yet apparently the picture which depicted an actual war event and the calling of names by some came to the fore for no reason than to antagonise Ivan and others into an argument.
The reason to promote those into an argument is :
Wait for it, we will be told that we deserve to have a polite argument. You leave no room for genuine discussion because of your need to consistently have the last say.
Like Magnarc, I hope this topic is another one that is unfortunately closed.
This topic was about Ivans respect for those who lost their lives and for those that due to the tragedy of war suffered for the rest of their lives.
It was about RESPECT.
Exactly the same as what so many of us show on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

How can you suggest what you are, without recognising the post by Plain Truth, which you & the rest of the gang are conveniently ignoring?
The sentiment in his post to which I responded & agreed with, is apparently what has got you all in a tizz, but it seems quite obvious that it has little to do with the content, & everything to do with the bully boy gang rising from their slumber once again.
Otherwise why was nothing said to PT. I'll answer that - it's because you & your mates don't have him pegged as an opponent to be taken down.
RickJ - a brief answer here as is deserved. Nothing in your post says anything of merit other than "I'm one of the gang'.
The thread should be closed down, but if & when it is, I accept no responsibility for it.

No one can force another to respect.
Respect comes from the heart or from actual personal experiences in life.
To manipulate anyones respect by comment to achieve a result congruent to a hidden agenda has nothing to do with respect but it has to do with someones character.

A few weeks ago we visited The Afghanistan Avenue Of Honour in Yungaburra on the Atherton Tablelands. It is an extremely peaceful and moving memorial in remberance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Afghanistan campaign (including the service dogs). I highly recommend it to anyone passing through that area who would like to pay their respects to those fallen heroes..

I travel through a lot of small country towns, often no more than villages really, and usually take a walk around and always stop at the war memorial, most places have them. Usually they have a list of names of those killed in the various conflicts and I find it salutary to spend a few minutes reading those names. I look for the patterns; the repeat of the surname which were surely brothers or cousins and often father and son in WW1 and WW2.
Such wars have devastated whole families in these small communities; one son joined up, his brothers or cousins felt (for whatever reason) they must too. Often they were posted to the same regiment and thus fought the same battles and thus died together. The male loss in these small communities was often devastating.
The British Army stopped creating local regiments a long time past for exactly this reason.

I expect what you see is what you had already convinced yourself 'the real Cuppa' is. Really you don't know me at all but my saying that won't convince.
I requested an explanation but instead received more of the same .... accusation, without the substance of an explanation. Your complaint was was that I took the thread off topic. I didn't & that can plainly be seen from a read through of the thread. It had already gone that way when I posted. We have already covered that ground, but somehow it continues to be ignored.
To All
No-one has substantiated the accusation of disrespect being thrown my way either. It doesn't matter how many times it is said, unless it is substantiated by those saying it it is nothing more than mud slinging. What exactly is it that any of you consider I have done which has been disrespectful? Would anyone care to, to spell it out rather than just repeating it?
Nor have I posted in an antagonistic manner. I suspect that some here mistakenly interpret views expressed which differ from, or contradict their own views as being antagonistic - seemingly unable to come to terms that differing views can live side by side without need for any antagonism.
Continued 'labelling' of my or anyone's posts which express a different or contradictory view to someone else's as antagonistic, part of an agenda, etc etc says no more than the person saying they don't like or agree with the view expressed, but the labelling is no more than name calling. .......... back to playing the man & not the ball.
This again, coming from a small subset of forum members once again feels like hounding to me & is unacceptable. Same goes for the NPD labelling. It's nasty, below the belt, mud slinging of the finest order, including the snide little references like the Flying Monkey one.
All this contravenes the first of the forum rules which says 'Posters should refrain from 'personal' attacks' . If the labelling persists, if the focus continues to revert to the man & not the ball I suggest that it breaks forum rules, is unacceptable & unsustainable. When it arises time & again it becomes difficult not to see it as a vendetta from a few.
I, at this point am trying to reason with those responsible, but my patience is not bottomless. I will reach a point where I am prepared to complain again to the forum admin. Their decision will be up to them. This hounding needs to stop.
As far as disrespect goes within this particular thread - I expect that for some 11/11 holds an unspoken personal meaning & because of that any deviation could well be seen sacrosanct, a taboo they consider broken.
I understand that, but it was not my post which created deviation, that came from others, I did follow on from it & if that has genuinely got up anyone's nose I do apologise for my part in that. It is not a legitimate excuse for a combined personal attack. There is no legitimate excuse for that sort of behaviour - ever!
I don't think a single person here has shown an iota of disrespect to the fallen remembered on the 11/11, but I can see that some may consider disrespect has been shown to the convention of remembrance since remembrance day, though I don't think anyone here intended that. I also think that the accusations coming from those annoyed that the thread has morphed into something they feel it shouldn't have, have themselves contributed to that.

Many years ago I used to travel on a regular basis from Melbourne out though Ballarat toward Ararat and along the section of road west of the Ballarat township was quite a number of trees all planted in a row forming an avenue along the main highway ( Western Highway I think the name was )
I had occasion to stop at Burumbeet and when I mentioned the avenue of trees it was explained to me that each of those trees represented a person from the district who had died during the first and second world wars. When it is represented in an avenue of trees that stretches for some kilometres then the numbers certainly hit home particularly when those numbers represent only those from that particular district.
To me, this was quite moving and certainly provided for me, the understanding of the massive toll of human life as a result of these wars.
The War Memorial in Canberra is well worth the visit for those who may feel the need to attend and maybe just stop for a minute on any day to remember those who have lost their lives in all wars.
Now your post has prompted my memory I think at the western most end on the left hand side heading west I think the Ballarat Avenue of Remembrance had a plantation row of trees which were at the time a lot smaller, representing those who died during the Vietnam War.
I could be mistaken but I am sure someone will know if what I am saying is correct. I have not been back there at all from the early eighties.
The main road or the old Western Highway has since been bypassed as I believe.

Robinvale Avenue of Honour

The Avenue of honour also has an online database of all the names which can be searched at honouringouranzacs.com.au/people/search
It is 'local' to our home base , as is the 'Arch of Victory' War memorial. www.ballarat.vic.gov.au/arch-centenary
One - the longest Avenue of Honour in Australia & the other the largest commemorative Arch in Australia.
