I think Possum gave some advice worth pursuing. If you have been sold something unroadworthy (which it appears to be) then after verifying the empty weight you should seek restitution from Sunliner. It's not just the fine for being overweight but in the event of an accident if the insurer finds out you have no cover.

I would agree totally, but this vehicle is now 6 years old. May have some problem going back with weight concerns 6 years after purchase.
I feel for you, but good luck Goldenyears

NSW police did a weight survey and out of hundreds of people checked only two were correct weight !!! Now after reading that obviously wide spread in Australia
I mean after buying a vehicle obviously no one checks !!!

I assure you that Road Authorities check with heavy fines and demerits to offenders. Regardless of the purchase date the Australian Consumer Laws still apply - Write an email to your Dealer and request full refund - they are obligated to rectify.

The police were giving information rather than booking people
Most like myself were in the dark about this always put off going to weigh station
After 6 years do you really think a dealer would give a stuff !
Advice I have been given mainly if something was going to happen it would have happened by now
Sooo many of these vehicles out there and I expect more loaded up than I ever was !
Few people I have made contact with similar vehicles different brand ever weighed their vehicles!
