BTW in case someone thinks to ask why would you bother to report to the cops ,if we couldn't read the number plate of the truck involved
my friend and decided to report it because we hoped that maybe someone else had also reported it and had indeed got the registration,
To the silly comments from Yobarr and others that said they have never known a truckie to carry a firearm. Please read my post at no time did I state that truckies carry firearms ,
it is what the cop told me and my wife ,( ex truckie no doubt)
Honest Orid Proffessional driver
Now close it
At the risk of TOTALLY confusing you,may I respectfully ask you to explain why my comment that I have "never known a truckie to carry a firearm" is silly? Never did I,or others, attribute those words to you,but we merely were commenting on the stupidity of that alleged statement by the police officer,as reported by you.And I did not realise that your wife was (ex trucker,no doubt) as you have written.Cheers

No, As a professional drivers we see this similar road situation on almost a daily basis. We do approx 1000 klms per working day all year long. Remember what I said about your attitude
BOB you see similar situations every day ? WHAT running people off the road for no reason.
what a tosser
Howdy Orid,
I think Rob Driver meant that the situation of caravaners forming a convoy which prevents anyone from passing safely including other cars.
I am sorry but it appears that you have a large problem with truckers, and you have a social problem with anyone you dont seem to agree with.
There was a topic posted by you not that long ago on this forum with a picture of a caravan that appeared to be possibly overloaded.
Amongst the unsubstantiated comments was one that you went and reported this to the police.
From memory they didnt act and you seemed to be a bit concerned that your report was ignored.
This has nothing to do with this topic but with you and some others attacking true professional drivers for there information that you dont want to hear, instead of running to the police you might be better to take some good advice.
You can question my credentials and as like some of the others I have driven large over dimensional loads as well as road trains and other combinations and as a driver we do see people like you on almost a daily basis ( Robs words). Working with police on a lot of these jobs doesnt seem to make much difference. Some of you drive around like Mr McGoo.
An over dimensional load is a real challenge when many of you cant obey escort and police and still manage to position your vehicle in the way of the wide load. To have to work with the likes of you is a nightmare.
Two words Unfu(ken believable.

We look at a photo and make judgements without knowing the facts ......sure maybe he's overweight, but has anybody taken the trouble to find out the real story.
It might well be that being overweight is not his number one priority.....maybe feeding his 5 kids takes precedence.
Instead of contacting the police maybe an offer of assistance might be more appropriate.

The professional drivers seem intent on defending their driving skills and the caravaners are doing the same.
The issue was are crashes including trucks becoming more prevalent. If so, this disturbs me because I am out there trying to stay safe. I think that the chances of someone surviving a crash in a smaller vehicle with a truck are not good.
IMHO could this have something to do with the old long distance experienced drivers being replaced with young inexperienced drivers with no real knowledge of rural conditions. Drugs may also come into it. Labour shortages are also an issue.
This could also be true of drivers of smaller vehicles. Increasingly, with the enthusiasm for camping, and after two years of not driving much, long distance drivers with caravans etc have been joined by young city drivers inexperienced with country conditions.
I bet if you asked the caravaners on here, their background would be that of growing up in rural areas, learning from early years driving everything in all conditions. Probably driven many miles long before they were eligible for a licence. This doesn't happen a lot these days.
Drive carefully and drive safe and be patient everyone.

Yep, typical bullying strategy of truckies. IMO they should be retested every 2 or 3 years.
You were not in my Triton when the B double was just 3 or 4 car lengths up my back side so you have no idea what speed I was doing. FYI I was doing about 85k, on a secondary Rd, no van. When he over took he was doing close to 100k and weaving all over the road. Clearly not driving to the conditions. And if he wraps himself around a tree, good. Hasn't injured or killed an innocent road user.
One other thing, you seem to always want to turn these discussions into a LC bragging or Triton knifing session. Very childish. When are you going to understand the Triton are far superior to Toyota tractors
I have never had an accident in 54 yrs maybe thats bad driving in your estimation it gives some indication on how carefull I am on the road ,and guess what( I thought i would save this for you?that includes 4 yrs truck driving in the uk a large solid body truck , ok just a 15 ton but quit long , delivering bread for Mothers pride bakery too and from Birmingham uk one of the busiest cities in the world ,yes you get some idiot drivers pull in front, but i never tried to kill em. Hey Tht makes me a proffessional driver like you , proffessional driver is just a discription of your Job does not not i repeat not make you a good driver and with your attitude you should not be driving a lawnmower ,let alone a truck of any discription. you are a BULLY
Bad regard Peter
Pathetic."Never had an accident in 54 yrs maybe that's bad driving in your estimation." You claim to have never had an accident,BUT,how many have you caused,I wonder? Hesitant, indecisive, slow thinking, overly cautious are some of the words that could be used to describe drivers like that. And could I suggest that pottering around a congested city in a bread van certainly doesn't entitle you to call yourself a truckie. As soon as I could reach the pedals, and see over the steering wheel at the same time,I was driving trucks bigger than that, and on public roads too! Got my heavy vehicle licence 8 years later! Early on in this thread I seem to remember you saying that the truckie involved had become upset because you were driving 10kmh (probably 20kmh or more) UNDER the speed limit, but further on in the thread you claim that, when around trucks "I always talk on the CB to the other driver". No doubt,in this case, you would have seen the truck approaching from the rear, got on the CB,and said "I see you there mate, and I will get out of your way as soon as I can". No,you didn't do that, but instead simply made sure that he had room to pull in front of you after overtaking. To do this, obviously you would have had to slow down. BAD MOVE.As Rob has already pointed out, trucks take a long time to reach road speed, and rely on momentum to maintain that speed. The last thing we need is to be slowed by dipsticks with no common sense, little driving ability, and zero understanding of physics. My 620HP truck weighs 86 ton,so has a power to weight ratio of 7hp/ton (+/-).Your thundering Pajero weighs 2.2 ton and has,say,200HP,so a power to weight ratio of 90hp/ton.You could accelerate from a standing start to 100km/hr before my loaded truck could reach 20km/hr. Trucks MUST maintain momentum if they want to run on time.At your stage of life, with your experience and your alleged "safe driving" record, you should understand these things.Apparently not.Cheers
Another stupid post I did Not slow down , we never travel close together sometimes we are over a km away from each other , not not not in convoy , unlike a lot of trucks that leave no space and the complain a car pulled in front of them ,
YOU Just cant face the truth that a lot of truckie are bullies

Maybe the truck drivers should listen, they might expand their vocabulary to words that don't start with F

I have already stated if you can bother to read properly I changed to ch 40 to explain to this moron that I would try to pullover when poss . I did not get the chance as he was already calling us all the cxxts under the sun to the other truck driver somewhere in front ,I then asked what is problem was and he went ballistic.
Now I repeat for the last time I did absolutely nothing to get the guys lunatic response except travelling at A slower speed than than he thought I should

Perhaps it's a tactic used by truckies in an effort to dissuade dipstick drivers from discussing,on the truckies channel, important sh-t like when to take their next tea-break! This channel is used by truckies to discuss road conditions, traffic, accidents and the like,or just to say "Gidday" to associates. It is also where motorists can,if they wish, listen in on discussions, and possibly ask questions. Can we perhaps look forward to some sort of a positive comment from you, rather than endless negative posts?
