I think it is admirable that so many flocked to get the jab...it helps the rest of the country to head towards herd immunity. No problem with those who got the jab, just the attitude towards those who have not yet had the jab.
It is wonderful that so many rolled their sleeves up to be Vaccinated. Now that you are Vaccinated you will not transmit or receive the virus, great. I support you.
With you being immune you do not need to wear a mask, you can travel freely between State Borders, travel anywhere within each State with no restrictions. You can even travel overseas. You are immune. You have a card and/or certificate to show that you are exempt from all restrictions because you are Vaccinated. You are not a risk. You are totally unbound to all the restrictions that other unvaccinated citizens must endure.
You are now Vaccinated and immune to Covid. Congratulations!

Hey Dick0
Looks like you found yourself in that bag of peanuts.
It is amazing. No Wait its not. that not one of you *waiters* *anti vaxxers* or just plain *peanuts* can not offer one other alternative for our population to gain Herd Immunity apart from ridicule toward the people who have made an informed decision to be vaccinated against Covid 19.
If you have no other support of justification for not getting the vax apart from ridicule of those who have, then you have made your points collectively so it is now time to let it go and leave it to those who care and respect others.

Just to put this into perspective.
So far from the last report I have read, there have been 6 deaths attributed to complications with the AZ vaccine in this country in about 4 million doses administered and yet we are all getting cold feet.
Over the last few years, each year there has been between 1100 and 1200 deaths on our roads and yet we all jump into our vehicles nearly every day without a second thought and head out into a bunch of drivers often infested with raving lunatics.
The chances of being killed or seriously injured on our roads is so much higher than dying due to AZ to make fear over the vaccine irrational at best and laughable in reality.
I am certainly not pointing the finger as I too went through all the fearful thoughts until I sat down and truly examined the facts.
All I ask is that you look into the science around it, the evidence if you like, and I think you will find it heavily weighted in favour of getting vaccinated now.

This topic is certainly getting a bit rich when the author of the topic is now being referred to as a troll. Yes, that tact is about as good as any other suggestions that have been contributed with reference to getting of top of this world wide pandemic by the naysayers.
Throughout history we have had vaccines developed quickly to suit urgent requirements for the demand at those times.
Nothing has created this demand throughout history more than various wars.
The military of many countries were aware of the threat of disease undermining war efforts.
For any concerned or interested have a read of this article.
I enjoy reading good articles too. I was very interested in the article concerning Senator Rex Patrick and ABC who both had their requests for FOI into the terms and conditions of AZ supply refused on the grounds of a breach of national security. That means, we will never know anything about the contractual basis or any of the terms or why this one was chosen.
Another good article I read was the home page of AstraZeneca where they listed all their various high profile employees and directors. One that really interested me was Kieran Schneemann. He is the director of Government Affairs at AZ. What an interesting life he has had. On his biography, among other great achievements, it seems he was a chief of staff in the Government between 1996 and 2006. He was in Finance and Administration, Industry Science and Resources. Science and Technology and also Sport and Tourism. If I remember correctly Scotty was Managing Director of Tourism Australia between 2004 and 2006.
I guess that is one positive that comes out of these times when movement is restricted. You get a chance to read some really interesting articles.

I just watched the same press conference.
Did you read all of my comments in this post from me:
Post from above:
Covid 19 has crippled the world.
Covid 19 has crippled Australia as far as travel and business trade is concerned but with respect to those who have contracted the disease and died we have been so lucky, maybe because we are an island and maybe because we actually have 7 states of which we could contain the outbreaks as they occurred.
We also have only a handful of cities which are densely populated which has also helped to contain outbreaks. Our population numbers are very low which has gone to help the containment of Covid 19.
Compared to most of the rest of the world we have done so well so far.
We should never be complacent based on these figures so far.
We have had a bumbling Federal Govt and bumbling State govts who cant agree on how to deal with this, but are we surprised? No we still cant decide on a National Rail Gauge or workable Time Zones. We cant agree on vehicle specs or even some road regulations let alone modification rules.
Through all of this we have managed to keep the number of deaths to under 1000 so far which is the envy of most other countries.
We are good, we are achievers, we are a nation of people who have dealt with many adversities during our very short existence in Australia. There are vulnerable people in our communities and we have mostly protected these people, much more so in most recent times.
We should be proud as a nation of what we have achieved.
I have not seen our nation divided as much as this Covid 19 pandemic has divided us. This division comes from so many areas of our communities because we have such a diversified group of people representing our current population.
We need the population to unite and stop fighting each other in the control of this virus
We need the population to respect lockdown laws, quarantine regulations and right back to the basics of wearing masks and simple things like washing hands etc.
But more than that we need to ignore social media, we need to ignore the views from the front bar at the pub, we need to ignore the bombastic neighbour and the varying views of those on forums and actually source accurate information from medical staff and drug manufacturers and more so ignore the media.
Please read Greg 1s post at the top of this page.
Please consider all facts constructively and with an open mind so as achieve an informed report before making any final decision on how you may wish to personally handle your participation into how you will apply your efforts to deal with this pandemic.
I hope and trust that in the next few months our efforts to help with the control and eventual elimination of this pandemic will become more obviously evident to the majority of our population in Australia and then then combined with the effort from so many other countries through the world we will collectively be on top of this.
As a country and as a member of other world countries we have done this before in history .don't allow us to be dragged behind in this current challenge.
I write this with respect to Angies cousin who sadly passed away with Covid prior to us having any vaccinations available at that time and to all the other lives that have been lost to this disgusting pandemic.
Regards
Rob
end of post:
Did you read the paragraph of how badly I thought the govt had handled this disaster?
I guess you didn't and I am still waiting for your suggestions to effectively achieve Herd Immunity without vaccinations.
I will assume that you are not interested in any attempt to first, unite this country and then do anything yourself provide reasonable protection to all Australians.
I think all members on here realise who are the vocal antivaxxers and who are the vocal supporters of being vaccinated.
Unless you and some others can validate your stance on refusing vaccination and show us all that your actions will somehow help the country then go ahead, but if you can offer nothing new apart from continual ridicule then let it go, we are hearing what you are saying.

Very pleased for those who have had their first jab and have had or are waiting for their second jab. I fully support your decision.
You have taken the Vaccination to be immune from the Virus. It makes you feel safe now having Covid immunity. You won't transmit or receive the virus. You're helping Herd Immunity.
That is why you rolled up your sleeves and took the jabs. Now that you are immune from the virus there is no need for you to adhere and comply with Federal and States' Covid restrictions.
You are after all now immune to Covid. Enjoy your new freedoms that those, not yet vaccinated, cannot participate in.
Or, does everybody have to comply to the restrictions?

Just to clarify.
1. My wife and I have had both AZ shots. 2. Those who are vaccinated can still get CoVid and also pass it on to others. 3. The difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated is you are less likely to be hospitalised and die from it if vaccinated.
My wife has a blood cancer and her specialist one of the top men in his field advised her to have it even though she will be lucky to make any antibodies, but, it COULD be the difference between life and death. Her specialist also advised her to not socialise with unvaccinated people if possible and for her (and me) to continue to wear masks when coming into contact with other people as added protection.

Dick0, Your comments suggest that the vaccine gives 100% immunity, including transmission. As I'm sure you are aware, and as noted by Legendts, that is not the case. It's just a significant help towards that.
If I am vaccinated, I have less chance of catching Covid and becoming a transmmitter (perhaps without knowing). I but others are still at risk from me, albeit less risk.
So, to answer your question, until the bulk of the community has been vaccinated, those who have been vaccinated will probably be stuck with continuing restrictions just the same. Mandating of vaccines for aged care workers is clearly for the benefit of those most at risk. At some point, maybe there will be a significant expansion of that policy, translating into different freedoms vs restrictions.
But just to look at it solely from a "self" perspective ("Will I still have to comply with restrictions?") is ....well, selfish. If we all only looked from our own benefit perspectives, the younger, less at risk in the population would be more vocal, and be out enjoying life even more, with the elderly left to fend for themselves. Better would be to add "......and am I helping to bring us back closer to normality?".

I think it is admirable of those who have been vaccinated and feel safer for it, even though they can still receive and transmit the Virus.
There are others, however, that at this point of time, don't see the sense of being vaccinated and still be vulnerable to being infected or capable of transmitting the virus.
Let us all enjoy the Covid restrictions together so that neither of us appear, as you make the point ....well, selfish.

Maybe the president of the AMA is just preaching.
This report is worth a read from beginning to end.
Towards the end of the report it is indicated that the US and England are beginning to reach successful levels of vaccinations.
Has it occurred to you Rob that the discussion I have been involved in is all about whether to have AZ or not, it has not been about whether vaccines are good or bad. You have been so busy lecturing everyone about your crusade you have completely missed the point. I took advice months ago and on that advice will wait for the alternative. Perhaps you should take your own advice and read the article you posted. It says nothing about AZ being the vaccination of choice, just that vaccination is required. The USA has not approved AZ and it not used there. They gave theirs away. Instead of lecturing us why don't you contact the FDA in the USA and give them the benefit of your great knowledge. I am sure they could do with a good laugh.

DMaxer, you have neglected to report on the vaccine being used in England is actually the AZ variety. They are having the same success as the US at the moment. We all could trawl the internet and find for and againsts any argument. It was recently that I came across an article from the Us that sounded very similar with their observation on Pfizer uptake as we have in Australia with the uptake on the AZ.
Lets get facts out there when the reason we in Aus are getting Pfizer in October is because we paid for it back when it was anticipated to be supplied and then our supply was held back. This order is available to us in October as it has been reported.
It is easy to come on to a preaching platform and neglect to mention certain facts because it may not support a personal agenda.
This forum as are most other social media sites, are a platform for preaching. It is the nature of the beast.
Amongst your several posts there has been many others who are complete anti vaxxers. These folk are blaming governments and a whole plethora of other rumours and innuendos. Even you and I have been critical of the roll out and some other aspects and I certainly don't think the govt has handled it that well at times.
I have tried to respect your very personal views but in the above post you singled me out as a preacher when at,least one other member has repeated his views of getting vaccinated a number of times.
Carry on DMaxer maybe when the Pfizer is available as an option or even if it becomes the only option available, then I will be glad if you line up for the jab to help with the control of the pandemic.

I and my wife had our second shot of AZ last night. Now we just need to wait (something like) 28 days for our bodies to build up our long term immune system to Covid-19.
I thought that the AZ was chosen by the government because it's based on the old technology - same as the flu, polio, small pox, etcetera - which Australia can produce. It was also easier to handle, cheaper and seemed very safe until the very few blood clots. Whereas the mRNA vaccines, Pfizer, Moderna, are the newest technology. It's interesting how some people feel that the AZ, and hence the old technology, is untested and are willing to wait for the new, even more untested, technology.
AZ has been fully tested in phase three, hence its distribution to the public, and is currently in phase four. The reason why that process has taken months instead of years is because this is a pandemic and big pharmaceuticals and governments are pouring billions of dollars into its development. I'm very pleased that they did and also pleased that the AZ developers have been very open with their observations and results. More so than the other pharmaceuticals.
Of course I'm not immune to SARS-CoV2 but I am certainly less likely to develop Covid-19, the virus is less likely to develop in my cells because of my immune system and hence I'm less likely to pass it onto others.

Mate, you are trying to convince the ones who have no respect for others and it just shows in their selfish attitudes.

Sorry Mike I find your comment to Dick0 a bit hard to swallow ,
if you want to see sarcasm, I think you should go back and read your opening post that started this thread ,I think its referred to as trolling
Plus there is lots of sarcasm and insults from people on your side of the fence.
Myself I have had all the usual vax's including flu jab last 15yrs or so ,without a second thought .
But this AZ vaccine , I am genuinely terrified because of all the reasons stated by Dmax and others.
Hopefully there will be no long term nasty effects from this very untested vaccine and you stay in good health ,if not you have my sympathy.
Oh and my condolences to all the devastated ,sons, daughters, grandchildren ,wives ,husbands and the rest of the family members of people that have died with Covid ,
But especially the families of people that have died unnecessarily from Rolling up their sleeves and trusting the vaccine .
Mike If I ever have the displeasure of meeting you on the road ,I will instruct my 16 year old 3 kg Chihuahua Lucy to attack you !!
She has no teeth ,she is deaf, and half blind ,but she is always very determined to please me, and believe me covid is nothing compared to a pissed of Chihuahua with very hard gums :)
Thats a joke BTW
Regards Orid
For the grace of God let this thread die.
Hi Orid, I totally agree with your comments and also you are spot on about Chi's. I lost my Molly last November she was 16yrs. to a heart condition. RIP Molls. She had attitude in spades.
We adopted the current pair in Adelaide 3 yrs ago Dexter 11 Lucy 16.
comparing to road accidents, being struck by lightning , shark attacks , trees falling on you , and all the other stuff doesn't cut it with me, in the end the more chances you take the more the risk .
Regards Orid
Throughout history we have had vaccines developed quickly to suit urgent requirements for the demand at those times.
Nothing has created this demand throughout history more than various wars.
The military of many countries were aware of the threat of disease undermining war efforts.
For any concerned or interested have a read of this article.
theconversation.com/how-world-war-ii-spurred-vaccine-innovation-39903
I don't think I'm going to tell you all when I get a booster shot :)
I think you should Mike. Given that this one is to be phased out in October you could give us "idiots and scare mongers" a comparison to the one you already had and the new one you are receiving. Maybe you could draw a graph, include a few photos and a rallying call to arms for all of us infidels.

PM press conference. No solutions to issues, just more throwing money at it, big sell and no leadership.

Hey DMaxer, you haven't mentioned WDH's once mate, not once. Must be a record me finks.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there everyone.
What part of VOLUNTARY,do you people not understand.
Same old, same old. Can't hear you introducing any additional arguments either.
Read the reports regarding the demographic of deaths from AZ recently.

agree

I would not expect you two to be able to offer any valid reason but I had to ask just in case you would like to add a valid point apart from criticism of the Federal govt.
So to you Denial DMaxer and your band of merry antivaccers, I can only hope that none of you lose a friend or loved one or god forbid, contract this insidious disease yourselves.
This report is worth a read from beginning to end.
Towards the end of the report it is indicated that the US and England are beginning to reach successful levels of vaccinations.
www.9news.com.au/national/coronavirus-nsw-update-ama-president-warns-lockdown-must-continue-until-delta-virus-eliminated/f0edf352-5d0f-4ac1-aa35-eb73fa50d62b
Hats off to ya Rob..
You have a big tolerance where I would have said what I thought.
Mate, you are trying to convince the ones who have no respect for others and it just shows in their selfish attitudes.
I am due for my second jab in mid September.
First jab made me a bit tired for that arvo and a very slight dull ache in the arm. It was no big deal.
When I had a flu shot earlier this year I felt like I had a cold for a day.
Just how these things work.
