A big thankyou to Cindy for this forum
I have searched for information on the internet and phones, etc, but they are buried in the general chat. As has been said by others, these question continually arise, so if we limit the topics to items, ie mobile internet, then we can direct all questions to it and the poster should be able to find the answers
So think hard before stating a new topic

I am suggesting categorising the topics.
I don't know how hard it will be for the site administrator or web master, but if there were headings covering some of the topics in the forums, it would be easier to locate them. It may even be simple to search for the specific topic, and then listing them under the appropriate headings.
It's just an idea, but it seems we rehash many topics when a newbie logs in.
Have fun with that.
Cheers Chrissy

Hi C.G. good thought - I have a query in spare parts and the "Techies" site seemed to apply - on reflection and with suggestion from another poster, started a new thread, specifically titled to the problem. Makes sense to gave a clear titling........

May also be worthwhile having sub-headings within this section eg. Solar, batteries & wiring as there seems to be quite a lot of enquiries regarding this subject, most of which have been answered before, so it would make it easier for new members to access previous content by narrowing the subjects.
Just a thought !!

Hi Zagg - as this is your first post - welcome to the site firstly. If you want answers to questions in this sub forum - you need to actually start a new topic, with some reference in the subject lline - i.e. Towing with VW Amorak - more likely to get some input if you do this, hope you don't mind my advice. Cheers, and happy travels.

Hi Cindy, still believe that while a subject should begin and end around that original question the apparent problem will persist while member posts decide status. Surely the post number should not only decide the member status, eg Veteran or Guru, but rewarded by submitting a new subject. Have always been annoyed by hijacking a subject by members only interested in their own standing.
Just an opinion.
Graham.

Hi Cindy, was wondering if we can get a few of the Technical inclined people together and write a few Posts that could be Stickies and changed as new data come to the fore..

What a great idea Juergen, perhaps that will stop the highjacking as well.

Legendqi, no you don't have to own an off-road van unless you're planning to go off road. And even then providing you have sufficient clearance & drive toconditions (remembering what is behind your car), some on-road vans could handle the average dirt roads.
I've been on the Strzelecki Track when a 747 could have landed & the passengers would not feel a bump - then again ....... ! All it takes is some rain to fall & someone wanting to go through regardless as to what they do to the road!

Hi Legendqi, a lot depends on where you want to go. If you are going to travel to more remote, out of the way places then I would suggest an extra spare wheel and better if caravan and car wheels can interchange, also a puncture fix set. We always take a high lift jack which I feel saved the car in one instance, chainsaw, tools, hand winch, compressor, extra water tank, jerry cans, plus, plus, plus. We find out of the way places are more to our liking and tend to be worth the trouble.
Good Travelling, Rob.

Filing a water tank from 25lt jerrycan.i made an angled metal with a plate on top.i slot it onto jacking peg which is close to filler on side of caravan.this saves holding can.

Hi Giddy - you have asked your question on the "sticky" - the welcome post from webmaster - Cindy.
The place to ask would be in the Technical - by "start a new post" - giving your post a topic or subject - i.e.Mini Air Cooler - might help if you had the brand etc. and actual size of the aircon - these guys are "techies" - got to know the ins and outs of a ducks bum before they can give an answer - no really, all good guys with a wealth of knowledge - all of them.
So as I sat - put your post in the techs section - with brand name and perhaps size of the cooler - good luck - jules!

Rust stop or rust converter first to stop it getting worse ! Check around rust area if theres any drain holes blocked ? If you cannot buy anything commercial? Any type of oil
Or grease especially on door skins etc . The big part with rust is preventing it getting worse . Ive done rust repaires . It FAR better to cut whole section out and replace with zink coated panel . Than bogging over the top .

I guess you are talking about the usb driven evaporative type. If so, it should help when you are in the near vicinity of it as it does cool the air - which a fan doesn't! I have both, and the evap unit uses little power while the fan is a full 12v. The cooler is refreshing when within a couple of feet of you and runs for nearly 8 hours before it needs refilling. Quite handy on warm nights but less effective in humid conditions. The fan also helps during day time if you have a spray bottle to give yourself some occasional squirts. As for cooling down a full caravan, the fan would have a very limited effect, while the cooler is quieter and will help on those warm nights as the evaporation process is automatic - unlike the fan. Certainly not a competitor for air con, but handy when off the grid.
Generally about $60, compact, cheap to run and compact.
Good luck with it!

A big question LOOKING FOR ADVICE PLEASE.. my son has given me and it is very generous a new "GensafeGHS2000i.... 2000W STARTUP/1600w RUN"inverter generator" . He selected that one as it has a Yamaha 4stroke engine, my concern is that it wont power my "ibis 3 air conditioner".
I have googled and can't find any reference to " Gensafe" other than Sydney Tools who mainly sell them with no country of manufacture or any reviews. Secondly there is a Gensafe GF2000 inverter generator that give 2400w start and 2000 watts running, ( this model is cheaper by $300 ,I asked why cheaper answer ...not Yamaha engine ). What do I do?? i have not put oil or fuel in Gen. If only he asked me !.
I Need to be confident that the Gensafe is not a a use once and can't be repaired model.

Hello. Just bought jayco expanda outback caravan. Has electric brake controller on the caravan. Will this cause trouble if the towing vehicle has an electric brake controller? Willing work against the other?
