Go for one with a true variable action pendulum. There is a model called Acutrac (not sure of spelling) that only has a two position pendulum. You pick these type by the two brake power settings on them.
The pendulum in a controler swings forward when you brake. The harder you brake (and more deceleration) the further the pendulum swingd forward. The further forward the pendulum swings the harder the van brakes are applied. This is good because you want the van's brakes to have similar power in proportion to the car's brakes.
The ones without pendulum work in one of two ways. One type applies only one power level to the brakes. The other starts with a soft braking power and it gets heavier the longer you hold your foot down. These are not much help in an emergency stop.
