Well Jimbo I read this on the ABC not 10 minutes ago... A lot of my friends overseas are jealous of our cheap fuel prices...
Have to agree Pete. In NZ they are paying about 2.00 a litre. They can't believe we get it so cheap.

last year travelled up the Stuart Highway and had to fuel up at Eridunda and found the price over the top when I asked why they had the most expensive fuel on the Stuart he said because he could, when we arrived at Yulara we discovered the fuel cost was eight cents per litre less and their freight costs would be much higher, another example is the BP servo at Norseman compared to the Caltex just down the road towards town with Caltex being ten cents cheaper. So its not only the fuel manufacturers ripping us off its also some of the servo operators.

The ACCC has its hands tied by the government who stand to loose too much revenue if it did its job properly. About half the price of fuel is the government take plus GST. (A tax on a tax).
The big supermarket chains are squeezing out the independent servo's with their fuel dockets to reduce competition. They up the fuel dockets to 8 cents/lt off and raise the fuel price by 4 cents. As they were giving you 4 cents/lt off originally your not much better off, but everyone thinks there helping the battling public.
Regional fuel suppliers then take their cut and control the price of the independant service stations hence the difference price in nearby towns.
You can't just blame the ACCC as they all have their hand in the till and we end up paying the price.
New zealand fuel would be higher due to shipping costs.

The ACCC is a load of hogwash. If we are stupid enough to put up with the lies and deception that comes from the ACCC then we all need our heads read.A total waste of taxpayers hard earned money.
Really can't tell much from that U S A for instance as it is in Gallons as for for the others have'nt the time to check too many variations....Here in the marsh I filled up at a Calte without docket $1.42 at Melton with a Coles docket $ 151.9 12 klm away.......And some reckon it's nothing the ACCC can do.........I'll only be going as far as Tocumwal this year.....And I an not poor Can afford it But I feel for them that have a budget.....It's nigh on impossible to keep.......What do you say Billeeeee?

With the price of electricity going through the roof maybe they're just trying to recoup their costs from running the pumps...... T.I.C.
