I wonder how many ex ADF, other ex allied forces, police, firemen, ambos and others who work or have worked in uniform, are proud of it and are members here and support the GN forum?
Edit: Ooops I forgot to include nurses and I am sure there are others that could be included here also (eg; Red Cross/Salvo's) etc.
I'll start, ex ADF 20 years continuous service, (Army and RAAF), served in Australia, Malaysia and PNG.....whos next?

I don't have any rellies who served, or exes, but I do support and admire everyone of them, men and women, and dogs. I live near Edinburgh Airforce Base, Salisbury, SA, and the boys and girls play aeroplanes most days. Yesterday the Roulettes did a fly over the Parafield Air Show. Lots of noise, but didn't see much from here. It's reassuring to hear the planes, jets and helicopters doing their thing for us. Very reassuring. I worked as a volunteer at the Broome Rissole, met some wonderful people, had a lot of fun, and I'm still friends with most of them. It's the only way I could demonstrate my support. The anniversay of the ANZAC is very special to Australians and New Zealanders. Let's celebrate the freedom we all enjoy, and others strive to enjoy, because of their sacrifices and efforts. It's more than part of our history. It's part of our life.

proud of my dad who was left on the beach at Dunkirk and ended up a prisoner of war, escaped 9 times, was shot, had terrible nightmares all his life after this.
As a child I never understood my dad's mood swings. As an adult I wish he has talked to me more.......too late now!

When it has been your life, not just a job, but a career you eat, live, sleep and breath in close company with the same people for weeks, months and years, it has to be in your blood. I'd hope everyone was nostalgic from time to time about previous times of their lives. I know I do. Mostly good memories, which is probably not the case for the service personnel who saw action. There would be good, happy memories, as well as the sad and tragic memories. It's ok, you're entitled.
