Love reading about your crafts. I have dabbled in many over the years. Latch rugs, tapestry, cross stitch, folk art, always knitting, crotch, oil painting, ceramics.
only discovered my joy of Machine Embroidery and Quilting a few years ago. Now love it. I give most of my work to family and friends.
Here are two quilts I made for my daughter in laws, my husband and our caravan.
Lovely quilts Glenda . It is a most satisfying hobby and friends and family benefit by it. Hopefully the quilts will be reminders of us when we are gone.

They are beautiful quilts Glenda. it is something I have thought about learning to do as I have sewn most of my life, although not much now. Can I ask please what machine you have.

Barina,
Thanks, I have two embroidery machines, Janome Memory Craft 10001, and a Janome Memory craft 11000 SE. Also have a lap top attached to each Machine for digitising.

Hi Glenda, your quilts are beautiful, adding the machine embroidery adds to the interest.
I have made lots of quilts over the years and have just started my first "quilt or finish as you go" quilt, I love patchwork but the final finishing trying to work with a whole quilt I find difficult so hope the finish as you go proves to be easier.

Jeanne, I do a lot of 'quilt as you go' I find it easier than trying to machine quilt a whole quilt at once. Hope yours turns out fine.

Jeanne, the best advice i can give is to be as accurate as possible with measuring and cutting otherwise the quilt will not go together neatly.
Are you sashing your blocks? Also I use fusible bias to iron the final stage of the sashing at the back so it is easier to sew. In the table runner above I have also machine sewn the sashing using an embroidery stitch rather than hand sewing.
Thanks Rosie, it was a table runner I made for my son and DIL when they shifted into their new home.

Glenda your table runner is beautiful, I love the colours and design.
Yes I will be sashing my blocks. I am using the same pattern (Card Trick) with different colours for each block, so I want to finish all of the blocks as far as wadding and backing and then decide on the layout so the colours compliment each other, then sash them.
Tell me if you think this will work please, I thought I could join the blocks in rows of five first then join the other way with a continuous sashing piece between each row of five.

Jeanne,
That is the way I do it, but I an not an expert. But as I mentioned accuracy is important otherwise the blocks will not be straight. I have had one disaster where I learnt this! Lol
Good luck.
Thanks for the comment on the table runner. It an 'In the Hoop' design called Mood Swings. I have also done one in blues which is on our kitchen table.
Cheers

Very nice quilts golivers travels. I would back up your comment about accuracy for quilt as you go. I've only done one and the putting together was OK - but the pattern itself was very hard to get right. I have done many others but handquilt them as I find this more relaxing. Under the air con in summer and wrapped around me in winter. Hehe.
