The better half and I are leaving from Mareeba on Friday 8-6-18 for a trip around Aus. I look forward to meeting new people on the way around.
Have a couple of questions, what channel is the nomads channel on the UHF and is channel 11 still a call channel.
Cheers and I hope to meet a few of you on the road.
Greybeard.

Even though you have been here for a while Greybeard I seem to have missed your entrance so, welcome to the gang, enjoy here and out in the playground.
9 is the so called 'call channel' but I don't bother with it. I scan 5, 18, 22, 25, 29, 35 and 40. 5 and 35 are emergency and C.R.E.S.T. (Citizens Radio Emergency Service Team, monitor in some areas). 18 is the so called 'travellers channel'. 22 I have found a lot of road works on. 25 is used by a lot of bus companies and me being an ex bus driver I like to listen in. 29 is the truckies channel on the Pacific Highway NSW. 40 is the national truckies channel but not the Pacific Hwy.
Hope that helps a little.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Channel 9 is the emergency channel on the HF CB. Channel 11 is the call channel on both HF and UHF.

A welcome from me also, Greybeard
I hope that you have a good road trip
A lot of caravans have a name, and channel 18 showing on the rear

Thanks for the info, I'll set up the radio for these channels as a group scan and leave open scan for all channels.
Cheers
