The VFFA will have a hard time trying to convince the smarter people that they, the VFFA, have the answers. The VFFA article is far to vague to be of any use other to promote itself. Just how much of Australia does the VFFA want burnt off each year? Fuel reduction burns use up resources far in excess of those available. The money cost alone shows them to not be practical. Fuel reduction burns as a general prevention method are not effective. Bushfires are always going to happen. Cutting down forests permanently change the weather patterns. Waving your hands in the air during some kind of prayer meeting has been comprehensively shown to do nothing. Fast and massive response to a newly established fire does actually do something. The VFFA now needs to be clear about its position as supporting the "Do Nothing" approach of our climate denying Politicians.

An interesting link and what a shame that the man of such standing has now been indoctrinated into supporting the greenies and their ridiculous demands on our disaster management.
I was interested in reading it until I got to the climate change statement and then it just turned into another media beat up.
I would imagine that he would hold more credibility if he took councils and state authorities to task to do controlled burns and have fire breaks built that are actually serviceable. Oh well! He will certainly pick up some followers.

The comments from volunteers at the bottom are interesting to read.
What about the fuel is right.
The extreme greenism approach is National Parks and generally leaving the bush to nature, but they want to try to take control of natural climate change?
The climate zone where we all live has been changing and will continue to change, Earth Cycles. About 130,000 years ago climate changing resulted in the lush conditions that had for a very long period fed very large creatures, Dinosaurs for example, plants feeding on high levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, changing to vegetation adapted to the increasingly drier conditions here. Today rainforests are a tiny 3 per cent of all forests.
This land became the land of droughts, bushfires, heatwaves and flooding rains.
When the first migrants arrived from India via what is now Indonesia into the WA Kimberley Region and from Papua New Guinea via Cape York, they observed the lightning strike created fires and that fire promoted growth of grasses which attracted animals and made walking and camping easier. The vegetation that regenerates by fires burning occasionally. And over time the Australian Aborigines developed their seasonal burning in rotation over several years in patches. A technique revived in the Kimberley by rangers and in Kakadu as well over the past few decades.
When the first settlers explored Australia they discovered many grasslands and well spaced trees in most areas, an example is the high country in the Victorian Snowy Mountains where until recent times cattle have been grazed in the warmer months. The cattlemen copied the burning as they left after each grazing season to promote growth of the grasslands. But since cattle grazing was banned those grasslands are being taken over with thickening undergrowth including blackberry bushes.
At Sydney Town, the first British Colony, cattle went missing and the people blamed Aborigines for stealing them until explorers reached the now Camden District and found the missing cattle grazing on grasslands near permanent water.
So Greenies, your neglect, your pretence of land management with limited permits for burning issued, results in very hot wildfires that destroy everything as compared to managed country where cool and slow fires burn. National Parks - set aside for future generations!!! No locked up to stop sustainable logging, dams, minerals and energy exploration and extraction, etc.
There is no climate emergency, this is one of the best periods to be alive, but the decline in solar activity might result in the next Little Ice Age in the not too distant future, the last ended around the time Cook explored the East Coast in 1770.
But there is a lack of land management emergency and as a result much of the fire hazard material has been burnt in a most destructive manner.
What about the fuel now, time to wake up and manage the land.
When he was the Prime Minister Tony Abbott was asked when more national parks would be declared. He replied, speaking also as a volunteer fire fighter, that there was to much national park areas already and maintaining them has become unaffordable.

There are many sources that expose the flawed and doctored IPCC climate change modelling data. There were two releases of hacked IPCC emails revealing the plotting about how to create the warming trend data and remarks about what might happen if the plotters were caught.
Natural climate changing are Earth Cycles, geologists and other scientists qualified, ice core samples for example and rocks, reveal the climate cycles clearly and the various much warmer than now periods in the past. The China delegation to the IPCC Copenhagen Conference, the emails were released around that time and called Climate Gate 1 & 2, told delegates about three warmer periods in 3,600 years of civilisation records in China, each brought greater prosperity from increased crop yields (CO2 now 0.40% of atmosphere or 400 parts per million).
What we all should worry about is the politics delivberately hidden behind the climate change hoax diversion, we argue and debate while the globalist socialists plot how to redistribute the wealth of developed nations and socialism undermining the free market capitalism that our wealth and prosperity comes from. Socialism masquerading as environmentalism former PM Abbott called it, and he also said that IPCC climate data is "cr*p", while acknowledging that the climate changes.

Any comparison between the science supported, researched, business case put by the former commissioner, to the pub bar generated opinion put by the VFFA, results in a huge mismatch in credibility. The Fuel Reduction as sufficient action proponents cannot answer just how that method or strategy might work, how it would be funded, who would have responsibility, and how the flow on effects of country wide fires would be dealt with. As a volunteer who weekly spends some time and effort looking after a remnant patch of Australian bush, I do wish the climate change deniers would spend a bit of time trying to generate some viable solutions rather than knocking those who actually want to leave a livable environment for the Great Grand kids. Part of my volunteer work results in monthly assessment of fuel load in the area. Since 1983, the fuel load here has not been assessed as sufficient to carry the fire. Right now, any spark would result in an uncontrollable blaze and the death of lots and lots of wildlife. The CFA is involved in all the assessment of the fuel load in the area. The VFFA call for some kind of general burn of the country is devoid of any sensible argument.

But to answer the bit about Greta's train stunt being exposed by the train operator?
My understanding was that, (perhaps others can make up their own mind, as my link is only two pages long)
Greta Thunberg tweeted a picture sitting on the floor of a train, she said was crowded
Railway initially tweeted thanking her, for helping them, in their fight against climate change
Later on, (perhaps a spin doctor), tweeted that she actually had a first class seat
Greta Thunberg replied Quote Our train from Basel was taken out of traffic. So we sat on the floor on 2 different trains. After Göttingen I got a seat," she said. "This is no problem of course and I never said it was."
"Overcrowded trains is a great sign," she added, "because it means the demand for train travel is high!" Unquote

17.12.19. As to be expected with a messiah like Greta Thunberg perched on the global pedestal every move is choreographed for max effect. Upon leaving the rather unsuccessful COP25 Paris Agreement gab fest a photo op happened, as appears in the image of her on board a German train claiming there was nowhere to sit and she twitted that to the world. But the Deutsche Bahn railway people responded to the spoiled brat in a way the climate diva had not expected. They didnt buy the, dont you know who I am fakery.
Swedish teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg was forced to defend herself in a Twitter spat with German railway service Deutsche Bahn (DB) on Sunday.Thunberg, 16, provoked a testy reaction from Germanys oft-maligned rail operator when she tweeted from a DB train on her journey home from the COP25 climate summit in Madrid.
Source: AFP
Greta Thunberg in Twitter spat with German rail
Travelling on overcrowded trains through Germany. And Im finally on my way home! wrote Thunberg above a picture of herself sitting on the floor of a carriage surrounded by suitcases.
DB responded testily, pointing out that Thunberg had travelled in first class during her journey through Germany.
Dear Greta, thanks for supporting us railway workers in our fight against climate change. We are happy that you travelled with us on the ICE 174 on Saturday, tweeted DBs official account in German.
It would have been nicer if you had also mentioned the friendly and competent manner in which you were treated by staff at your seat in first class, they added.
The company then followed up the tweets with a press release, in which they added that Gretas travel companions were sitting in first class from Frankfurt onwards.
Thunberg hit back on Twitter, claiming she had found a seat at a stop after Frankfurt, which she said was no problem.
No problem
Our train from Basel was taken out of traffic. So we sat on the floor of two different trains. After Goettingen I got a seat, wrote the 16-year-old.
This is no problem of course and I never said it was. Overcrowded trains is a great sign because it means the demand for train travel is high! Thunbergs journey through Germany was the last leg of a continent-spanning trip which began when she travelled to New York on a low-emissions yacht last August.
The 16-year-old activist started a worldwide movement last year when she began to strike from school every Friday to protest government inaction on climate change.
Refusing to fly, she has twice crossed the Atlantic by boat in recent months in order to speak at a UN climate summit in New York and the hastily rearranged COP25 summit in Madrid.
Her online run-in with Deutsche Bahn comes just days after a high-profile Twitter clash with US president Donald Trump.
After Thunberg was named TIME magazines person of the year, Trump tweeted that she had anger management problems and told her to chill.
Thunberg responded by changing her Twitter bio to include the words currently chilling.

Natural climate change according to scientists around the world recently;
Leave the life giving gas CO2 alone,as interference with this minor gas will cause famine, and then strife for all.
The truth about carbon dioxide
Again, CO2 is not, and has never been, a poison. Each of our exhalations, each of our breaths, emits an astronomical quantity of CO2 proportionate to that in the atmosphere (some >40,000 ppm); and it is very clear that the air we expire does not kill anyone standing in front of us. What must be understood, besides, is that CO2 is the elementary food of plants. Without CO2 there would be no plants, and without plants there would be no oxygen and therefore no humans. The equation is as simple as that.
Plants need CO2, water, and daylight. These are the mechanisms of photosynthesis, to generate the sugars that will provide them with staple food and building blocks. That fundamental fact of botany is one of the primary reasons why anyone who is sincerely committed to the preservation of the natural world should abstain from demonizing CO2. Over the last 30 years, there has been a gradual increase in the CO2 level. But what is also observed is that despite deforestation, the planets vegetation has grown by about 20%. This expansion of vegetation on the planet, nature lovers largely owe it to the increase in the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere.
If we study, however, what has been happening at the geological level for several million years, we realize that the present period is characterized by an extraordinarily low CO2 level. During the Jurassic, Triassic, and so on, the CO2 level rose to values sometimes of the order of 7000, 8000, 9000 ppm, which considerably exceeds the paltry 400 ppm that we have today. Not only did life exist, in those far-off times when CO2 was so present in large concentration in the atmosphere, but plants such as ferns commonly attained heights of 25 meters. Reciprocally, far from benefiting the current vegetation, the reduction of the presence of CO2 in the atmosphere would be likely to compromise the health, and even the survival, of numerous plants. To fall below the threshold of 280 or 240 ppm would plainly lead to the extinction of a large variety of our vegetal species.
In addition, our relentless crusade to reduce CO2 could be more harmful to nature as plants are not the only organisms to base their nutrition on CO2. Phytoplankton species also feed on CO2, using carbon from CO2 as a building unit and releasing oxygen. By the way, it is worth remembering that ~70% of the oxygen present today in the atmosphere comes from phytoplankton, not trees: contrary to common belief, it is not the forests, but the oceans, that constitute the lungs of the earth.
The truth about the greenhouse effect
About the supposed link between global warming and CO2 emissions, it is simply not true that CO2 has a major greenhouse effect. It is worth remembering, here too, that CO2 is a minor gas. Today it represents only 0.04% of the composition of the air; and its greenhouse effect is attributed the value of 1. The major greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is water vapor which is ten times more potent than CO2 in its greenhouse effect.
A message for our politicians, there is no way you can get rid of water as there is far too much in the oceans.

I do not agree with that GWB, there was a calculation done many years ago that if every human being could be gathered into one area the size of Tasmania each would have an average Australia family home living room space.
Israel has turned desert into irrigation formland to feed the people and that can be done in many places. There is a plan to extend the Ord River Irrigation Area WA across Norther Australia through the NT to NQ, new dams on the rivers to harvest wet season rains, the Ord River releases many Sydney Harbours of water every year despite what is behind the dam. The CSIRO has identified the potential irrigation areas that are in total about the size of Western Europe. Huge nation building potential and massive boost to our economic prosperity but would take decades to achieve. There would be new towns, roads, railways, airstrips and new businesses to service the people and irrigation farms.
The NSW Lib-Nat Government have signed an agreement with Israel recently to exchange water management know how for drought proofing the state and securing farm water supplies.
Our greatest handicap is the United Nations and treaties signed, like Agenda 21 now 30 that dictates many things we do and need under the heading Sustainability. Marine Parks an example and the loss of commercial fishing trawlers and licences, instead a lot of our seafood is now imported and we have lost businesses and jobs in the process. State Forests set aside for sustainable logging have been converted to National Parks where logging, exploiting minerals and energy reserves, dams and more are not allowed. Preserving the Parks for future generations but allowing them to become fire hazards and being burnt out including death of wildlife. No, the real UN purpose is control and manage our common wealth assets.
Australia has 25 million people and the US has over 300 million people, the land areas of our nations are similar, and Australia could grow into a major economic power as the US has done.

Having lived in the Perth hills area for nearly 50 years, ever present bushfires have always been part of living in a heavily treed environment. It is the cost of wanting to live in this wonderful area.
Years ago, controlled burns were the go and we had few catastrophic fires, but then pressure from green groups who had no idea caused a cessation to this. We have had some terrible fires here during that period, with enormous fuel loads in the forests. Just had to do a short walk out behind my place to see this.
They have now commenced control burning again thank God and common sense. They should have been listening to our indigenous brothers who have been doing this for thousands of years.
Yes I believe that we are experiencing climate change. How much of it is a natural cycle and how much is man made is still debatable and certainly how much mankind can do about it is really the question. What I do know is that Australia produces 1.3% of the world's greenhouse gases. So even if we stop all our animals from passing wind and turned the lights out tomorrow so that we didn't produce one more once of greenhouse gas, it would not make one iota of difference to climate change. That's the reality. Anything we do as a nation will be symbolic only.
The other complex issue is stopping things like coal. This is Australia's 2nd largest export commodity. The revenue from this is astronomical. The number of people it keeps employed is large. So the huge dilemma for any government is what are we going to do if we lose that revenue and have a large number of people hitting the dole queue. What are we prepared to sacrifice for this? Our standard of living is going to go south without a doubt. Are you willing to have far less government services, pressures for pension reductions etc? Are you prepared to stop caravanning? It may come to that. Food for thought isn't it.

Well there you go, I would give more cred to this mans unbiased observations than to someone who benefits financially from joining the global warming climate change movement.
Obviously during periods of hot weather fires will happen.
Their ferocity is due to circumstances above, and to the idiots that lit them, nothing to do with any climate change.
Oh, and why did the name change from global warming to climate change.. so that these alarmists could rally their blind followers in all weather conditions.
Did I hear someone say WEATHER CONDITIONS.
All this nonsense is doing is crippling this country financially for our grandchildren.
Care for the environment, decentralise and plant a tree

I thank you for putting that video up Angie
Prior to watching it, I would never have bothered to do my own research, just to see if it was correct or not
I actually thought that the video was just selective number crunching
I nearly purchased the Sydney Harbour Bridge, in my younger days
The deal fell through, when the man selling it to me, refused to go full guarantor, for the bank loan

Like all reports, we have the asbestos report for our block of units as required in NSW. It's not worth the paper it's written on!

I feel very sorry for teenage Greta, she is an actor and her parents are theatrical people, and cleary she has a role to play and like all actors on a stage is stage managed, scripts written and practised for each performance.
Her closest minder I read is a 23 years old German women.
At the May 2019 federal elections the GetUp activist group (foreigner and union movement donors included) hired young people from a Western Sydney actor and model students education focus school to dress in GetUp and their Independent candidate colours as needed, Warringah electorate one example, to be the image of young people concerned about climate change.
