Hi I just had my QBE policy cancelled for our jayco caravan after telling them we had moved the caravan to another address for 3 weeks before starting our trip around Oz. They said if we dont have a permanent address its classed as our home and so not insurable. I couldnt believe it, nothing in their policy states this and the personal use includes social, domestic or pleasure purposes.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an insurer that will cover us while living in the van also?
TIA
I have just cancelled landlords insurance with QBE as the building was not Strata Title. It seems anything slightly outside the box QBE would rather customers went elsewhere. Was with them for a decade.

Company title is a minefield of potential trouble for shareholder owners and therefore are difficult to sell which is why some insurers are not willing to insure.

Tennants in Common, a bit between the two. There has been no shortage of buyers!

I was with GIO in NSW, but just recently went to NRMA. My van has Victorian Rego, but still insured with NRMA.
Better policy coverage, and cheaper.
I tried CIL but I am not a member of CMCA (??) which is apparently a prerequisite with CIL.. The price I did get was very very expensive, as was the guy (broker) from Victoria as well.
PM me if you wish to discuss.

I am with CIL, and I am not a member of CMCA, I shall double check when I am due for renewal about June
It does make me wonder, if the likes of QBE, would use this as a loophole
I am led to believe that after a certain amount of time, we are supposed to change our licence ect, to the State we are currently living in

My apologies about membership of CMCA & CIL to be insured....... it may be that is the association with the Gentleman Broker from Victoria.... All I do recall is that my option to go with NRMA was un-encumbered, and satisfied all my needs.
Cheers to all, and enjoy Xmas to the full; Grog in the mediocrity. Best wishes, KB

You had to be a member of CMCA to insure with Ken Tame Insurance.
Not sure if this still applies as Allianz bought out Ken Tame a few years ago now.

Several years back before heading away on one of our annual trips up north with the van on, I realized that the insurance on the tug was going expire while I was away, so I called my insurance company to ask them to email my renewal as I would not be at home to receive it. Not only would they not send out the renewal by email but the said they would cancel my policy as soon as I left home with the van as I was altering the risk to the vehicle. I cant remember the name of the company off hand but it may pay people to check there tug is actually insured when they go of on there travels whether they have a fixed address or not. Apologizes to Tracker 022 for going of subject. Landy
