In the December issue of Owner Driver (transport mag) an article identifies that once the NorthConnex tunnel opens (Pennant Hills Road alternative) trucks and buses which are over 12.5 metres in length and or/over or 2.8 metres in height must use the tunnel - there are several exceptions, i.e. a delivery on Pennant Hills Road. Failure to use the tunnel will invoke a penalty of $191. The toll is set to be $23.03 each way. Legislation was made in 2017 of the Road Traffic Act for the purpose of getting trucks to drive on NorthConnex instead of Pennant Hills Road.
I wonder if, in the light of the latest tolls applied to vehicles of these dimensions on the M7 and M5 (some caravans) will the toll apply to us caravanners?

You will find people towing caravans that are over the same size are already being charged the same rate as trucks that size on the complete system. They have also announced the charges will remain. No if, buts or maybe's.
I used the system in September just gone and the charge was then. Bugga. I usually only use that system twice a year so will just put up with it.
If you do a search above you will find a discussion on the matter. Also and as well even, I think the NRMA did a story on it all a couple of months back.

As I understand it the toll will be applied when the tunnel opens - it will be additional to the toll on M7 and M5. My query is this - will caravans exceeding the 12.5metres long and 2.8 metres high be fined for not using the tunnel, as will be a truck or coach? Poppabare.

Thats crazy. So living half way between the two ends of NorthConnex, if I can no longer use Penno Road when towing my caravan, this would mean I will have to travel south through back streets to get onto NorthConnex to go north, or travel north on back roads to get to the M1. Crazy!

I understand that the heavy vehicle toll charges only apply to vehicle or vehicle combinations that have more than 3 axles and that single axle vans will not be affected . Correct me if I`m wrong.

Might pay to check,but I believe that if the vehicle has 3 axles,to qualify for the low toll it must be no more than 12.5 metres long,but no more than 2 metres high? Think I read that somewhere? Cheers
