Over the years have made lures out off heaps of different things (not alway succesfully) one of the best trout lures I had was one where I pinched the wifes flashy dangly earrings.
Hopefully she wont read this.
The fish sometimes dont care. If it sort of resembles something that looks like a meal they will go for it.
These wooden ones, I will be looking forward to being able to get out and test them when were allowed.
Getting back to something that I hadn't done for a long time now have the enforced time.
Bit of wood, pocket knife and any shape I like.
Very relaxing and great fun using the finished lure.

Ah! Lovely work. So, do you actually catch fish with them? I have yet to do so on any I have whittled.
Very nice work Old Salt, have often contemplated trying my hand at this type of thing, never got around to it, what type of wood do you use?
Love the old Bunny knife, haven't seen one in years.
My Uncle gave me that knife when he knew he didn't have long left back in the early 80's.
I have treasured it and obviously still use it.
I have been making lures since I was stationed in Exmouth with the RAN.
Needed to make them there as expensive proposition with the size of fish I was catching there.
I haven't done it for a while and am enjoying getting back into it.
I have caught a myriad of different species over the years or them and there is nothing more satisfying when fishing.
I will post some more pictures soon of how I,m progressing.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi,
Pretty much anything Pine, Tassie Oak usually any wood that I have left after a Bunnings project.
I will post some more photos as I do a bit more.
And yes I've caught a lot of different species over the years.
Really satisfying when it happens.
You should give it a go.
I'm not the best painter but it doesn't seen to worry the fish.
Cheers
