Good morning. I am about to change the tyres on my Pajero and am looking at Toyo Open Country AT2 as an option. Has anyone had experience with these tyres for mainly highway usage but about 20% off road.
I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

Always been happy with Open Country.
Have them on van at present, and had them on 3 cars.

First set did over 100K on a 100 series, second set going well.

This is the second vehicle I have put them on and they have in both cases been worth it and given great service on both sealed and unsealed surfaces as well as tracks. Towing a van of 2800kg.
It should be noted that they come in 10ply.

I have them, 2nd time round, Last lot 105000lm, this lot will be the same, just make sure you get made in Japan ones, only not the made in China, as they do less than half of those big km.

Thanks everyone for your comments. My hunch was proved correct! I will ensure they are Japanese and not Chinese. Thanks again.
Cheers.

Thanks Hetho. I'm used to noisy tyres so as long as they're not worse than what I'm used to I can put up with that.
Cheers!

I would also like to thank everyone on this topic for their honest feedback.
Being up for new tyres, I will be having these put on my 4WD in the next 2 weeks when they become available.

Other option is Hankook Dynapro all terrain. I have these on my Ranger and have had similar experience with these to all the above regarding the Toyo's. And they are quiet.
Good wear so far, good on and off road in all conditions. You can often pick these up on special from various tyre retailers.

Know very little about Toyo.
I now using a French brand that has been around for ever after using a couple of designer brands.
Maxims, Flaken, Toyo, General and the list goes on, i was not happy with them, yes they were cheaper at the time.
Now much happier spending a few dollars more.
Just saying.

Radar,
which ones did you use? You say you have little knowledge of Toyo, then lump then with a whole raft of other brands, with little comment other than price. My experience suggests Toyo are certainly not a cheap alternative.
Your comment is wide ranging but with little (no) information to assist really. Some more info about issues you had with what brands might be a bit more helpful to Zacnelie3.

Hi Greg....I have Hankook on my 'play' car,and they perform well at more than 270km/hr,but when it came to tyres for the ute, after much research,I narrowed my choice to BFG KO2s,Toyo AT2 and Mickey Thompsons.Eventually I chose the Mickey Thompsons, but the Toyo AT2 certainly seems to be a great tyre, certainly ahead of the BFG KO2s which have had 'issues' in the last couple of years,I believe.Cheers

Hi all, my 2 bobs worth
I have had, over the years, 6 l 4x4 vehicles, using either Dunlop, Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Yoko and or Bridgestone tyres, all A/T.
We now have Toyo Open Country 2s on my BT50(4 sale), have towed quite a bit with them, offroad use, 4x4 use as well as just bitumen, all without any issues.
I would say with my experience the Toyos are up there with the best of them, they are NOT cheap(none are cheap) but with careful buying often as with the others you can pick them up at good prices when on special, buy 3 get 4 etc etc.
Would have no problems replacing my next tyres with Toyos
cheers
Ian
