Hi after reading sat tv good /bad have a question. I am in a caravan park in norten NSW no tv so bought a vast system. Can't get local chanals get ABC ans SBS but the nine and seven are NT or central coast NSW. Is there a way to get the local chanals at the moment all I get from local stations is the news.

In short the answer is no.
VAST is set up in 3 regions effectively. WA, Central covering SA and NT, and East. You do not get local commercial channels, only one of the 3 options shown depending on where you are registered as.
As we come from SA we are generally registered on Central, and as such we get commercial channels that take eastern states news, not SA which can be annoying, but that is the way it operates. As you say, they do generally carry the regional commercial news if you want to watch it.

The ONLY local channel to can watch from anywhere is the news channels which start from 7pm from memory. Scroll down through the channels untilmyou see the local news channel you want. It repeats throughout the night.

If I recollect rightly there are 2 different registrations, one to connect to Vast and the ABC, SBS and the other to the Travelers Registration which gives you access to the secondary commercial stations, you can select the state you wish to have transmissions from, we choose WA even though we travel throughout Oz. It is so long since I did it I it may be different now, all I do is renew my registrations every six months.
Go to the vast site and all will be revealed.
Cheers

If you choose SA/NT, you get SA broadcast ABC and SBS, and you get Imparja for 9, giving you Vic 9 news, and South Central for 7 with Vic news, and I cant remember who is 10.
