I received a Safety Recall in the mail today & was wondering how many others have been "caught"?
We purchased the car new last September & ordered the LSU model with the new spring arrangement (3 reasonably heavy looking springs instead of the 5 on the LSM). The ride was ok, it took our van without a WDH ok - all was well until today.
Apparently "the front of the rear spring set can break around the eye bush, applying the parking brake unexpectantly, causing possible injury to the occupants & other road users". The remedy? To replace the springs with the standard 5 leaf set!
We bought the car because Pat has a bad back & found the LSM model, when we test drove it to be too firm & the ride choppy. I was more impressed with the LSM as it had vinyl mats instead of carpet, a "proper radio aerial but no GPS" - we have a portable unit that doesn't require big bucks to be spent on updates! The radio in our car is .house as we mainly listen to ABC Radio (AM) & all we get around town is lots of induced 50hz interference.
So I'm going to contact ARB, Ironman & Pedders for their solutions & when I have them, I'll contact Isuzu to see if they'll fit one of the aftermarket sets &/or supply Pat with a more comfortable seat.
Has anyone else suffered the same fate?

Hi Warren...whilst I have little experience with your brand of vehicle, for all suspension work I have found Carroll springs,at Wacol, hard to beat particularly on price.Very fast, very efficient, very affordable.I don't have their phone number on me,but contact is Doug Butler.Good luck with sorting your car.Cheers.

Thanks Chris,
However under current COVID19 rules, I can only travel only 50kms! Your spring people are about 1500kms away - I'm in Townsville.
I've also raised the issue on the Isuzu Forum.

Hi Warren
I bought a 2017 dmax spacecab from new and replaced the original suspension with carrols aftermarket heavy duty coil springs efs shocks and two heavy duty rear leaf springs to add to the original five leaf springs.I then changed to Lovell's to get extra weight upgrade for legal reasons .
If your not after gvm or gcm upgrades going to reputable suspension dealers such as carrols in Brisbane can give you what your after at a much better price but I'm sure you know it may void your warranty if you have any future problems with Izuzu .I am pretty sure carrols give 3 years warranty as do most of the aftermarket brands
Cheers.

Oops! Sorry about that Warren....that'll learn me (sic) to better study your profile! For some reason I thought that you lived on the Gold Coast.Good luck with your research, but be aware of huge price variances among suppliers, with some using their name to justify a premium price.Just saying! Cheers
