Hopefully Stage 2 of the Covid 19 de-restrictions will enable us to get away for a bit of time in our Grand Cherokee Laredo and Jayco Journey 20.62-2 Outback.
We can get to Hervey Bay in our 250km radius and that's where we are headed. A group of 5 or 6 vans are getting together for some socially distanced R & R. Away from grand parenting and mindlessly watching TV, listening to eBooks, working on the van and the car achieving what I don't really know.
These are definitely testing times. Looking forward to the next stage where we can venture further and go to the real Outback rather than just outback in the backyard.
Take care,
Gary

Gary you seem to be reading something between the lines that is not there at the moment, even if it was, Hervey Bay is pushing the boundary a little depending on your location of course.

Had a read of the state government site - re: region (at present) Your region is up to 150k radius from where you live, ensuring you don't cross into an Outback Region or cross a state border. If you live in an Outback Region don't leave what is defined as an outback region or cross a state border. I presume this will be the same definition of region when it goes up to 250k when it changes on the 12th June. There is a map showing restricted areas, outback region and the rest of us. eg. Goondiwindi is not in the outback region but you don't have to be very far from Rockhampton to be in an outback region. So it is best to have a look at the map before you plan a trip. Cheers.

Fairly sure Daniel Andrews said the other day there has never been a distance limit in Victoria, So if any one wants to travel extended distance in Vic just check it out.

After some discussion on another facebook page, I came across this for Qld residents - A quote from a Coronavirus Q&A site from Qld Health. It pertains to the current restrictions, but I would assume the definition would also apply to the 250 km limits from 12 June. -
What is classified as 'your region'? At this stage, your region is up to 150kms radius from where you live, ensuring you don't cross into the Outback or cross the state border. If you live in the Outback, your region is 500km from where you live within the Outback, making sure you don't leave what is defined as the Outback or cross the state border.
So it's a radius, not road distance, and is not limited to geographic or regional government regions - just distance as the crow flies.
This is the whole thing which seems to answer every possible question about what can and can't be done in Qld.
Hey thanks for that info NEVD looks like 1770 back on track

Queenslanders please check which Council Areas are classed as Outback. See my previous entry here. Have a look at the map. The Outback is the following council areas: Balonne, Banana, Barcaldine, Barcoo, Blackall/Tambo, Boulia, Bulloo, Carpentaria, Central Highlands, Cloncurry, Croyden, Diamantina, Etheridge, Flinders, Longreach, Maranoa, McKinlay, Mt. Isa, Murweh, Paroo, Quilpie, Richmond and Winton. Some of these areas are quite close to the coast so choose your roads carefully.

Landy, I think you are right about Daniel and what he said but I think that it must be a day trip only. Basically Victoria has little or no virus in country regions. We would like to stay that way and if we get a lot of metropolitan visitors then it increases our risk of the disease spreading into country areas. Staying within your "region" is very helpful to everyone.

Maxim of 250 km radius of where you live.
