Just heard on ABC RN news, the Qld Premiere said we may not open the border until September but they will be reviewing it each month.

The stories from rural America, one can see why rural Australia would rather not have it, to put it mildly!
I live in Manly, a hot spot, we are very careful to avoid busy areas. About 50% of the people are doing the right thing including young people which is impressive, but the other 50% just couldn't give a stuff..... second wave here we come!

We are in a Queensland registered motorhome with registration that expired a few days ago. Being a heavy vehicle it needs an inspection, but we didn't want to take the chance of leaving our NSW hideaway and getting stuck somewhere so I guess we just wait until lockdown finish and borders open and get a permit to drive to Queensland.

There was a thread here recently about your predicament & you can get an inspection here at interstate approved locations.

As advised above, You can have check done in NSW - Look for an inspection/engineer near your location that can do "Blue Slip" inspections for heavy vehicles. Your closest truck dealer for the motive power of your cab/chassis would be a good place to start.
If you allow rego to expire there are a lot of hoops to jump through (in NSW) to get a permit to drive interstate.

I would like the borders kept closed but open up to state travel , at least for a couple of weeks. Last winter was a nightmare to get into parks as they were taken over by southerners , book ahead you say , these are booked out 12 mths in advance. Cheers mick

Thanks for the info on rego inspections.
I did eventually contact them and they sent me an application to extend the previous inspection for 6 months to allow me to renew the rego now and get an inspection later

Just be grateful one is not in southern Europe, endless number of caravan parks, full will all the people from northern Europe. We have been there in the shoulder season 3 times. That was busy enough for us. Frightening the sheer volume of people.

Hi Mick I have a solution for you re booking a site in NQ during winter; I cancelled my booking at Agnes Water this year, I am sure along with a large number of other "Southerners". So make a booking now while your Premier has locked us out and once you are in the system you will generally be offered the same site for the following year - problem solved. Having said that please consider us "Southerners" and stay away from the NSW/Vic coast when the humidity in Qld is so oppressive in summer many Queenslanders want to escape south.
Remember we are all in this together!!

Owned a house there from 79>2010 sold out due to too many Backpackers and southerners.
It was a beautiful back then but everything changes when you put a bitumen road in
such is progress.

We are like most, disappointed we are not on track from Brisbane to head out and enjoy our Northern Queensland temps.
Yet having an extended family in Europe 150 kilimetres from Italys C19 hotspot, please double our border enforcement.
It is genuine scary thing this C19, one not to be mucked about with.
