Definitely day trips only .
as Nevd says next relaxation is on june 12 , 250km and caravan parks and camp grounds allowed to open . dont think national park camping opens at that time though .
always check before going anywhere as these dates and restrictions can change at any time .

Before anyone heads off to their favourite CVP on the 13/6/20 it may be wise to check with your intended park destination.
Although parks can open you may find that some have restrictions to vans being Fully Self Contained as to maintain social distancing within ablution blocks and camp kitchens. I know that this is already causing some contention amongst those travellers trying to place bookings for June.
This may mean that some non self contained maybe accepted up until the number is reached.
The park we were interested in is looking at only about 40% non self contained and any more must be self contained.
Even then it is hard to police but unfortunately a necessary evil.
I was told that fully self contained means using their own toilets, showers and kitchens IN THEIR VANS as I do believe that many travellers are reluctant to use their bathrooms as they would generally rather use the CVP facility.
It may be some time into the future before the previous status will be reinstated.

It might be of use to keep up to date using this web site
eg. I found the Govt advice that the travel distances are Radial & not road distances.
But it is not all clear cut as a previous advice suggested that at stage2 you could travel up to 250km within your own 'region'.
'What is classified as your region? At this stage, your region is up to 150kms radius from where you live, ensuring you dont cross into an outback region or cross the state border. If you live in an Outback region, your region is within 500kms radius from where you live, making sure you dont leave what is defined as an outback region or cross the state border.
I assume that your 'region' will be 250km (radial) from where you live in Stage 2 but not into Outback or into another State.
My quick measurements with a tape measure on a paper map shows that Hervey Bay is just inside the 250km limit from my Brisbane suburb!!! Now to check bookings. Oops, best check with SWMBO first.
Update .. She says its still too cold in June. (I hate caravanning in the cold). Have to re think & do more research.
edit .. BOM records say that the 'average' Temps for Hervey Bay in June are 12 to 22.2 & July 10.1 to 21.9. It's an unseasonable 17 in Brissy ATM (11am) & that's cold for me! As per my later post the radial distance is closer to 260km.

Google Maps has a handy tool which allows you to measure straight line distances from one point to another. Right click on starting point, select "Measure Distance" (or the like) then left click on where you want to go. It's amazing how much country you can travel within 150 km.

Thanks for that .. it told me it was 260.38km .. which is close to what the CP Manager at Torquay estimated at 256.02.
Unfortunately both are just outside the 250km.
I'll ring the local Police Station and see what they advise. A friend recently wanted to go to a spot just over the 50km limit. The local Officer told her that it was OK and if anyone pulled her up, just refer them to him.
Of course as the CP is owned by the local Council, I expect that they will stick firmly to the letter of the law & deny me a booking. We'll see when bookings open in a few weeks. In the meantime I'll look for alternatives.

Sixmaps for NSW has a few measuring tools. But Sixmaps only works on my computer, not on my Motorola phone. The aerial photos are a bit better than google & sometimes the different shadow direction can help looking for things. Other states have their own maps.

Hi,
Pretty sure you can only travel 150km after June 12 with van attached and stay in a CP. After June 22 the limit increases to 250km. Happy to be proved wrong. We are already booked for two trips. Happy days (and hours)
Cheers

Hurls check the qld gov web site for the facts .... 150km day trips only then after june 12 250km max caravan parks allowed to open . thats presuming nothing changes between now and then . so check before you travel .

Well, decision made for us. No Hervey Bay this year.
All things being equal, we will head off on our South East Qld journey ... Brissy to Cania George on to Emerald & then via Longreach to Winton & then back to Longreach & down thru Windora, Quilpie, Thargominda & back home via St.George & a side trip through my old pig hunting area of Surat, Glenmorgan .. perhaps Condamine, Dalby & home.
We intend to head off around August/Sept assuming that at least Intra State travel is OK. Be a bit warmer then & perhaps not too many interstaters. LOL
Perhaps a few short local trips in the interim.

Our drivers license states WA as our address, but we are in Queensland, we are itinerant travelers, once we start traveling again, does that mean we can travel 150 km per day? or can we only travel 150km from a central point and then return ---- to where ?

Iana it has been said dozens of times the currant restrictions are 150km radius day trips only . Cant be said any simpler you need to return to were you are currently based at night .

So after June the 12th ? and we stay at a caravan park. I guess if you can produce the park invoice/receipt, that would suffice as a place of residence.

Yep after june 12 qld residents can travel up to 250 km from home and stay in a caravan park if you can find a vacancy. As for your situation i dont know ,i think what you are suggesting is that you want to continue your trip by leapfrogging around the state 250km at a time which i beleive would be frowned upon .

Iana, the best bet is to check with the Qld government.
Perhaps an email so you have their response in writing. As you can see, interpretations can vary between people as the restrictions are written with residents in mind, not itinerant or nomadic travellers.
That may be the only way to get a reasonably definitive answer.

You are so right, I read up the QLD information this morning, and find they refer to "Your place of residence", or your place. We really have neither, after the 23rd of June, we will be on the move. We will however try to secure a farm or house sit for that time.
as Nevd says next relaxation is on june 12 , 250km and caravan parks and camp grounds allowed to open . dont think national park camping opens at that time though .
