In regards to the section on ""Free/Budget campsites, as recommended by our Forumites.""
Have you stayed in any free or next-to-free campsites that you would recommend?
I have noticed that there has been very little activity re comments and suggestions from Forumites, especially during the last 12 months or so.
Now having a lot of time on our hands perhaps we can record suggestions of the best camp sites you have experienced.
I note the Co-Vid has had us all home bound.
Then again perhaps this site and it history has covered all possible great camp sites.
Looking forward to any further info re free / budget camp sites.

I think "WIKI CAMPS" App has now got all the free camps covered with updates by anyone who uses the APP. So the reviews are almost always current reports on a stopover in the last few days. So more CURRENT and probably more users than The Grey Nomads postings on Free and Budget Campsites.

Gave up on Wikicamps as all the free stuff on there was not much chop. We don't tow so it was fairly easy to find old disused places unlisted. Hope it stays that way as it is less likely to be a dump.

Travelling between Mackay and Proserpine yesterday popular free camps at The Leap and Kuttabul are still closed and the Bloomsbury BP roadhouse free camp was empty except for a couple of trucks.

We have heaps of great free sites, all on rivers and mountain streams, this one is hard to beat.Free camp, free gas bbq, table and drop toilets.

Don't think I know that one PT but knowing where you travel I can make a couple of guesses :)
Looks like a nice radio on the table, what is it, if I may ask?

Hi Mike, the radio is a -Digitech,AR 1748 got it from Jaycar. It has been very good the only problem has been the battery cover.
One clip broke broke, just stick it down with tape,it has copped a fair battering on our trips.

I see no one puts up their free camps,so here is another one we go to.Went in Feb. this year, drove around to pick a spot and we were the only ones there.
Like the look of both those places. Usually after a holiday I put up/or update a couple places we stayed at, but for some reason I didn't after last year's holiday. The only place we got to stay at this year was Chinchilla Weir in February, which ask for a donation. There is electricity too if you are lucky. I wonder if the new toilet block is finished? Some of the free camps are closed at the moment. I noticed that the camp in Gatton Qld. was blocked off when we drove past last Sunday. Cheers.
