Basically the Toyota Hilux is the best ute ever sold in this country and are understood by most good mechanics - the units fitted to the cab chassis are many & varied and need to be inspected by an expert. Use the checklists from CCoA to ensure that things a working as they should.

I'd look to using a dedicated caravan inspection service to go over the accommodation part - check for leaks, wiring, gas issues & structural issues etc. They know what to look for. A bit like getting a house inspection on a used home. Then a good mechanical inspection on the ute.

Totally agree. Would never buy a big ticket item without paying someone from a repair shop to inspect.
