I just returned home from a 3 day work trip in the country around Biloela/Gayndah/Murgon in Qld.
The Nomads have been let loose! A few vans getting around on the Bruce Highway, but on the country highways (mostly heading west) every 5th vehicle had some sort of mobile accommodation attached. More vans than trucks on the road - that's the first time I've seen that. Rolled into a small town with 2 cafes - 6 vans pulled up, and within the next 10 km another 8 rolling toward town. The previous town had 5 vans stopped. The small business owners of these towns must be jumping with joy. I checked out a well regarded bush camp, and as I was speaking to the owner, 3 vans rolled in.
Spoke to a colleague and we reckon the locals are making sure they get the best spots before the Mexican wave from down south arrives.
Unfortunately, because of that 4 letter W word, I can't be one of them. Bugger.

A lot more vans on Albany Hwy coming thru Mount Barker, heading to Albany, Denmark etc.
We managed to get a booking next week at Lucky Bay in the Cape Le Grand National Park (Esperance) for a trip to clean out the cobwebs.
I spent a frustrating couple of hours trying to get a PS at one of the Waterfront council parks at Hervey bay. Not much available. Was told that lots of sites were prebooked by Southerners in anticipation of borders opening. The situation was made worse as one of the CPs has electrical problems and won't be open for some time. We don't really want to settle for one of the other CPs in the area , having stayed several times previously at any that appeal to us.
No good at our fav at Noosa either. They would only take email requests & sent back what looked like a standard refusal reply. They must have got a laugh out of my request for one of a list of my preferred sites.
I think that we may have to revert to advancing our planned Spring time south western tour or sitting it out until summer.

Looking forward to getting on the road again.
