In our news letter under letters to the editor, I wanted to comment on article about grey nomads heading north But my ipad wont let me so i will comment here.
last week we headed south from gladstone qld. In 2 hours we saw 120 caravans heading north. 1 south australia, 3 victoria, 6 nsw, and 110 qld number plates. Numbers were similar next day. Was going to free camp at childers but i was shocked by the number of caravans parked At 11am. Chock a block. No carpark space between vans. Every space taken. same as parking a car in a carpark. 1 victoria, 1 nsw and the rest qld number plates. Caravans parked on the road as well. I said to strop, just keep driving.we are now off the bruce and thank goodness for that. Ooroo. Happy travels. Rocket

You obviously haven't moved far from home in the last few months [ I know you probably have not been able to, ] or you wouldn't ask such a silly question Trevor .

Hi Rocket.
We needed to go north from Brisbane to Yandina and yes we were also surprised at the amount of RV traffic on the the main coast road.
We put some of it down to school holidays but my mate and I are both bloody old retired truckies reckon those minor roads off the coast would be a pleasure this time of the year so we would not deal with the RV movements.
Hope you are enjoying where you are but it would of been warmer further north.

Just returned from a round trip from Brisbane to Nanango to Goomeri and Gympie back to Brisbane and yes we also noticed heaps of Caravan and Motorhomes especially along The Bruce. Passed heaps of vans along the back road from Goomeri to Gympie.
Great camp spot at Goomeri Bush and Caravan Park just out of Goomeri. Also recommend the Nomad Rest just 4 klms from Gympie CBD along the Tin Can Bay Road.
Whilst the rain was welcome it did throw "a wet blanket"" over our couple of weeks away.

We have travelled from the Gold Coast to Cairns in the last 10 days. RVs every where. Free camps are chock a block. its as though everyone was waiting and when the starters gun fire they stampeded north up the Bruce highway.

G'day Rocket and Strop, hope you are both well?
Just a point from a Victorian still in VIC. I have been, still am and will be for some time in Nth East VIC. About a month before the NSW/QLD border closed and long before the NSW/VIC border was even though of being closed I spoke with many people moving in a northward direction and at safe distance, like about 2mts. Every one of them and I lost count were heading to Nth NSW and were going to stay put in Nth NSW until the QLD border opened so they could make a run for it into QLD. Maybe I spoke with some of the ones you saw Rocket? I also noticed many caravans being towed also in a northward direction up the Hume Hwy. It's pretty quiet now in that department.
It will be interesting if they get stuck in QLD over the summer months due to the possibility of CV19 causing havoc in QLD between now and then. I hope it's not the case. Mean while here in NTH East VIC we are locked off from Albury and Melbourne areas and starting to feel isolated in a way. Maybe a good thing though.
It makes things difficult when you want something and it's not available around here but is in Albury, one hour away and Melbourne 3 hours away. I tried on-line without success and ended up getting help from, of all places, Townsville. It is being sent down express post. Might take a couple of weeks though, time will now tell. If I was up there as would have been before CV19 hit hard I could have just walked into the shop and walked out with the item as I spend a lot of time in the center. The girl I spoke too was so helpful and even said after chatting, for my daughter to bring in what she was sending down for me and it will be sent with what I paid for at their cost not mine as it was free delivery. What amazing service.
Keep Safe out there everyone.

The Shaver Shop.
So I can cut my own hair and not have to go to Barber, if I can get in that is. Happy to do it myself soon. Looking like I was when 18. Instead of long blond surfy hair it's long grey GN hair.

The twins are living in Byron Karen. They are in a tent in the bush at 'The' beach. The local ranger keeps and eye on them for me daily. I can't believe how helpful he is in looking after the twins for me. He doesn't charge anything either. I won't see them now until 2021.
Keep Safe out there.

Haha. Great you are such good friends with the ranger And the twins get on with him too. Before covid. Saw them at the hamburger shop on the hill at byron. they were there with a camera crew and they were doing a photo shoot for sandals.
