Our experience with the G2G Pass and Self Isolation - Information and advice from our experience with returning to WA.

Hoping this information might be useful for any residents trying to get back into WA.
We originally applied to return as residents under the Persons otherwise seeking approval to enter WA category and were not approved. We then reapplied under Compassionate grounds. From reading and conversations it would appear that the key to getting approval is to say and provide evidence of where you will self isolate and that you understand what is required.
Advice
1. Apparently they work through the applications according to date of entry, however once approved you can change the date of arrival on the app (the police at the border didnt seem too worried about entry dates). My advice would be to use an earlier entry date, and if approved, change on the app. It would appear they dont process them on weekends, so put the application as early as possible.
2. They only provide a 600-character space for your written part of the application. I think this limits your ability to put in all of the information that they are looking for. I typed out my written component on a word document, wrote See attachment titled ##### and uploaded it in the documents section.
3. We stayed at the Kimberleyland Waterfront Holiday Park, they were very accommodating and sent us a confirmation of our booking that we included in our application.
4. You need to emphasise that you are fully self contained (caravan park lets you go to the dump point) and that you have arrangements for food to be delivered (the caravan park went and collected our click and collect order from Coles.
5. Whether you can provide and justify a compassionate reason may be the hard part, but as I said previously if you cover the other stuff this might be more leniently considered.
6. There is no internet service at the entry point at the NT border, so they cant scan the Q code on the app. You need to download and have handy the PDF they send with the approval email.
7. The police will use their body-cams to record them reading out a long spiel about what you should/shouldnt do, no arguments that you havent been told J
6. FYI, I was told that if you enter via Eucla you are allowed to travel to Perth to isolate in your home.
My script below for those interested.
We have been in the NT from the ####. Before then, we were in QLD from the #####. We have not been to any major cities eg Brisbane/Darwin. We can provide further documentation of where we have stayed if requested.
#### is the Attorney & Guardian (see attachment - ######) for her mother who is in an aged care facility (see attachment - ### MonthlyStatement from home) and has dementia. We have flights from Broome booked in September (see attachment - Broome Flight) so we can see her, attend to her needs and organise a medical appointment (see attachment Medical appointment).
We will be arriving by car/caravan at the WA/NT border (Kununurra) on the #### of July. We will be proceeding directly to the Kimberleyland Waterfront Holiday Park (1519 Victoria Hwy, Kununurra WA 6743) where will self isolate for 14 days in our caravan (Refer to attachment Booking Confirmation from caravan park). We are aware of the quarantine requirements and are totally self-contained. The caravan park will be collecting our grocery orders from Coles and will deliver to us. We are aware that we will be required to follow the directions of the Police and Border Control Officers during this time.
We are living in our caravan, as our house is currently occupied until December. We will be spending the remainder of 2020 in the Kimberley/Pilbara regions.

Hi SGilbo, Thank you for that so important information. Clearly those that do not take notice of your advice will be very foolish indeed. Welcome back to WA and travel safe.

Thanks SGilbo for posting this.
We applied from NSW as my husband recently retired from the airforce and we want to return home to WA. Our application was rejected as we did not meet the stricter exemption criteria for NSW. We had just sold our house and although we have a home in WA we could not return. We lodged another application with more details with a plan to fly from Sydney on the 24th August. We did not hear anything and when we heard that Queensland were closing their borders we decided to ship all our belongings and jump into the car with the camper van attached and fled to Queensland. We have been in QLD for just over 2 weeks. On the 22nd August we received an email from G2G to say we had been approved to fly from Sydney on the 24th!!!. (Today). We have gone into the G2G app and changed our travel date to 2/10 and named Eucla as our port of entry. Here's hoping a spanner is not thrown into the works before then . We have decided that since we are enjoying our drive up through Queensland we may as well continue and make the most of it. We did contemplate entering through Kununurra but decided that we would prefer to enter at Eucla and quarantine at our home in Perth rather than northern WA. So we will trek back down through the NT and SA late September.
Hope you enjoyed your time in Kununurra and have a great trip South after.
