I read opinions on this and other similar forums. I see those for and against border closures. I'm curious to know how many here are on the road and how many are sitting at home.
Is there a connection with opinions with those on the road v those sitting at home?
FWIW we are on the road. 4500k in the last 4 weeks. I can understand the need for border control but I can't understand why it's based on politics rather than some scientific procedure. Im of the opinion that not one state government could organize a chook raffle.

Hi bgt
I am at home base in West Australia, awaiting elective surgery, the wife also has a small medical problem, and awaiting medical treatment
When we are both once again healthy, we shall be travelling, and fully utilising the guidance, of the respective State health leaders
I am not letting any secrets out of the bag, by saying, in normal times
October I like to be in a certain place in WA about 500 Ks north of home base
Christmas Day I like to be at home base in WA
New Years Eve, I like to be just north of Adelaide SA
Middle of January, I like to be in Tamworth NSW
February/March, I like to be in rural VIC
April/May, I like to be in rural SA
June, I like to be back at home base in WA
In these times of a pandemic, if either I, or the wife, or any State health leaders, feel that my travelling to, or through, any areas, will assist in the spreading of the Coronavirus, then I shall not travel
My gut feeling, is that now the authorities realise that there is a potential of spreading the virus, by leaving a border open for a few days, until the official closure date, they may now probably close borders at a minute notice
I shall respect their decisions, and if I find myself, in an area of lockdown, l shall just bunker down. I shall make sure that I have the funds for lockdown, before leaving home base.
In normal times I stay in free/donation camps, which have in the past, been closed down. I accept that I may/will have to pay for accommodation such as Caravan Park/Motel/Hotel etc.
If I find myself lockdown in a small town, I shall ask the locals, how can I assist, in appreciation that I am their guest
My opinion of border closure to eliminate Covid-19 will never change. If anyone can give me facts, that open borders will help eliminate Covid-19, then I will change my opinion

Last year, I did Tasmania (loved the peace & quite), other half did Germany soon after I got back (more peace & quite), I drove 4000 km to pick other half up from airport at Perth (even more peace & quite). Then finish off from the previous year due to too much rain in south west corner, 13,000 km to & from Perth.
Since October 2019, 689 km, quite happy at home & give the year a miss.

I am in iso around Nth East VIC. I made the decision to stay put after things settled a little after the first wave. I just had a gut feeling something was going to happen and din't want to get caught short, so to speak. A second wave hit and as we all no it was and still is a tidal wave so very happy to stay put until my gut says it is safe.
Luckily I love this area so no complaints from me really.
Keep Safe out there.

I got out of Victoria on 23 June before the border shut and headed to SA to help my brother prune his vineyards. All good for me here with no restrictions and free camp in one of his vineyards .... plus free wine!!!! No problems for me here.

We're at home in Toowoomba, Qld. We were going to wander down through NSW and Victoria to look at the silo art from September and maybe take in the Floriade in Canberra but will have to leave that to another time. I'm having some medical issues this year which isn't helping any but thinking about getting away for a couple weeks in October after our school holidays are over and going up to Monto to see their new silo art and some quiet time at a beach somewhere that's not too crowded and not too far away. August is always an at home month for us. Cheers.

We are content to be at our home base in Brissy. Beautiful time of the year here with only a few restrictions. Getting used to wearing a mask when out.
I am awaiting the results of a Coronavirus test that I had today in preparation for a routine day surgery on Tuesday.
Assuming all is OK we'll take a short swing (a leisurely 3K in 2 months) around SW Qld later in the year.
We are both very happy with our State Govt's handling of the situation, seems to be the common sentiment, but we have been very fortunate so far.
Just glad that we have no close relos or friends in Aged Care at the moment.
Our back neighbour heads off on Monday for a trip out to Birdsville and the next door neighbour is off to the hinterland and then to the Sunny Coast for a week or two or three on Thursday. Hard to resist this excellent caravanning weather.

In sunny Northern Vic while recovering from surgery.
Its quiet here and all the locals seem to be following the rules, wearing masks and keeping their distance when l venture into town for supplies.
When it warms up l'll be heading to either Greens Lake, the river or maybe check out the wildflower blooms in Whroo forest for a few weeks.
Best wishes to everyone in these difficult times,
Stretch.

Obviously not one of the locals. I live just up the road and have been resorting to trackie dackies and ugg boots in the mornings. Damn these 10 degree mornings!

Out enjoying the south western area of Queensland for the month of August and still practicing social distancing.
We are in favour of closing the border to contain the C19 virus and help in the management of this deadly pandemic.

At Mary Kathleen, old mining town near Mt Isa, having travelled from Port Lincoln mid June, through the Territory and making our way to toward Charters Towers.
Borders permitting we intend to head south, through NSW then back to Port Lincoln for a few weeks at Xmas.
Free camping most of the time.

At home, here in good old country town Adelaide, wishing we were out and about and thankful for border closures because of the very fortunate co-incidence of COVI-19 and some serious illness matters which have cropped up for both of us.
So we can deal with these without too much "anxt" and then look forward to tripping again, when we get a decent break from the currently never ending Med Appts.
Mind you the veggie garden has never looked better than right now!! And the Wood Turning has been going very well!!!
Cheers - Ian

Been on the road since arriving from the US a couple of days before Australia shut the doors.
First to Branxton free camp until they started getting anxious and putting up signs.
Then to Taralga for long stay on son's bush block.
Now at Gunning free camp for a couple of nights as we head north west where it is slightly warmer.
Pretty much resigned to being confined to nsw for the time being (and international travel is out because travel insurance isn't available) , but hoping Victoria gets it together so Tasmania opens up in time for us to escape summer heat down there
