Not having much luck at the moment. We get tv channels but it keeps breaking up. Ok at other places we have stayed but played up at dakabin nth brisbane and now at lawnton nth brisbsne. Thought it was the wind but that has abated and no change. We are on oval near building. Will move van when we can but if it is still the samehas anyone any suggestions. Was thinking of getting satalite dish but they are expensive. Could it be we need a new antenna?

We had similar issues when in WA up at Geraldton. We were in an open area so knew it had to be the antenna.
Went to the Coast to Coast agent & it was the cable inside the roof. Changed promptly & has been great ever since.

To get a real answer we need to know if you have the latest antennas which would work on both wave types hori and vertical.
But in the end you need a good signal, its booby crazy stuff lucky our life, we do not depend on it but I do like it Monday and Tuesday at 7.30pm only just to watch Sandra. Alright I like Vera too.
Good luck getting real helpful answer.

You are (auto) tuning your television at each new location, yes? Also there is a free mobile app that assists with the closest transmission tower and which way to point your antenna. The app does not require internet.

The big downside of digital TV is that it's all or nothing and because of the very high frequencies DTV uses you do need good line-of-sight to the transmitter.
In the past, in central Victoria, I have received something like 70 channels from two transmitters each about 60km distant, currently I am camped 6.7km from a 40W relay and can't receive a damn thing! I have an expensive Winegard dual polarity antenna with pre-amp. The local relay is on 591MHz and only about 25m high so I suspect its signal is largely being absorbed by the forest trees before it gets to me.
Try rotating your antenna through eight points of the compass, you may pick up a reflection?
Digital TV is great for the cities but not so good in the country - as is usually the case for most things.

I use an app called DTV Antennas. Shows the direction and distance for all local services.

When our signal died we got a professional in. After spending over $300 on a new arial, and $$ on his labour, we still had same problem. Got him back, he suggested a new booster box, but could not guarantee this was the issue. After 2 hours of him fluffing about, we queried if it could be wiring. Made a call to the manufactures sparky who wired the van to discuss where wires ran. Turns out the issue was corroding wires just under the roof mounting plate.
So be careful, cost us in excess of $600 for something that could have been $150. Some professionals are not as good as they make out.

Regarding antanna apps, I have used both of the above. I find the DTV antennas app is probably the best, in that it gives you info about the frequency, distance and direction of the transmitter and the transmission power. There are many instances where you may have a tower 5 km away from you but it is only at 50 watts, whereas another tower 40 km away may have 50 or 100 kW power and have a stronger signal. The DTV app has a pointer which gives you a good idea as to which way to point the aerial.

Glad you got it fixed rocket
In regard to apps, have used DTV antennas, but there is also one in Wikicamps which I have yet to try

Go on lash out and get a vast unit and auto sat dish. Whilst tv is not high on my list of priorities it should add some $ to resale value.. I installed it myself. Stop van put down stabilizers, push a button and instant footy or cricket.
