On our weekly shop this morning social distance was almost ignored, or very few did it. Just push through,stand beside you or right behind. Now our area in Lavington has no new cases in almost 2 months, but can see 7-10 cars at the local test station for most of the day. I am not getting the attitude at all.

That is the norm here since day one, nothing has changed! We just try to pick quieter times!

I found quite the opposite here in Kingaroy. Supermarket very busy but all distancing correctly.
But I did notice far fewer wearing masks than in Brisbane. However we live in an area of Brisbane with a high Asian population & they set a good example.

I'll be up front and say there's a lot of over reaction out there. BUT I do think there are a few common sense things that can be done that will help. It worked before so why can't it still work? Short of some major stuff up again.
Keep your distance and don't be afraid to "politely" tell others to BACK OFF.
Wash your hands.
Wear a mask if YOU are sick.
And finally take responsibility for you own actions. Don't wait for some public servant tell you how to act.

I think a majority of people in supermarkets do the right thing, but every trip there has to be at least one doofus who just does not give a fig about giving any space.
And therein lies the reason why we are in this predicament re community transmission. The element out there who dont give a stuff.

What I hate in supermarkets is watching the people who like to pick up every item study them, then put them back on the shelf for someone else to pick up (especially in the meat section). You can wear masks or socially distance as much as you like but this is another sure way to pass the virus from person to person. I have also noticed when Woolworths first asked people to wear masks in their supermarkets you where in the minority if you didn't - I went shopping yesterday and I was one of the few people in the shop who was wearing one and that included their own employees..

I'm in Melbourne. Yesterday I went to the local small shopping strip. Walked along the front of Woolworths, maybe 50 mtrs. In that distance seen 6 poeple with masks pulled down below their nose, 1 with no mask and maybe 14 or 16 masked up correctly, in a 50 mtr stretch and in eyesight. Into Woolies. People didn't wait for me to get my trolley and move off, was pushed past so they could get their trolley quicker, like 5 seconds quicker. Then like always, in the aisles someone is standing shoulder to shoulder with you to get a can of bake beans. Most are doing what's requested, but that number seems to be shrinking.

Being a country boy l tend to stay away from cities. In country Vic when l visit town for food etc everyone wears their mask correctly and social distance. People are in general respectful of others until they get in their cars where indicators and stop signs are completely ingnored lol.

Numbers are coming down. The count for today's trip to the supermarket was 3 masks not work correctly and 1 with no mask. Shopping trolley and aisle was the same.

I am in Western Australia, so officially no lockdowns, and no need for masks
I went into a local supermarket yesterday, and a different brand one today
At both supermarkets there are still signs, saying 1.5 metres etc, and there are still wipes, to wipe the handle of the trolley
Plus there is still hand sanitizer
Plus not all checkouts are open, and there are signs on the floor, for distancing at the checkouts
In the main, most people are obeying the 1.5 metre distance rule, but (as already been said), a few shoppers did not give a damm

I have just been on my 'big day out' from iso to the supermarket and found everyone self distancing, using the sanitizer station at entrance and standing well back waiting to pay. One thing I noticed today for the first time was sanitizer bottles placed at various locations around the supermarket and people using them. There was a staff member at front entrance with a counter and another at the exit end. Also and as well even EVERYONE had a mask on. Well done Woollies Wangaratta, Nth East VIC. I then went to a little Butcher I like and only two people allowed in at a time and no mask no go in. Sanitizer on counter and you are asked to use it. Well done little Butcher as well.

Well double bugga, stuck north of the Murray, so cant get to try Chiefs butcher, nor his well behaved supermarket. The only thing Coles have done here is unlocked the coin deposit on smaller trolleys. Dispensed with their "greeter" as well.

My pet hate in supermarkets is the serial texting pests who just stand around blocking the aisles for ages, totally oblivious to the people wanting to get past or pick up products from the shelf they stand in front of for 20 minutes at a time. Sure I can say excuse me but they can't hear due to their permanent ear bud implants that have them unplugged from reality. What do you do, short of shouting move the F along PEST! Seriously, these people make shopping take about 5 times longer than it needs too & seriously increase overcrowding in the store. I think you just have to be rude before they can drift back to semi reality and get the point!

I have found people very good in our supermarkets and in the shopping centre. In Victoria, let's not forget where this second wave started. It was not the supermarkets or Bunnings or any other shop. It was as a result of the sloppy work of our state government and the embarrassingly poor job they did with the hotel lockdown and the amateirs that they hired as security guards. Also the fact that they initially refused to have the defense forces involved.
Now, nearly all our cases are in either aged care or the poor health care workers who have been caught up in this whilst doing their jobs. Again, it is not the shops or supermarkets.
