In exchange for site in a park worth $?? per week, they want a very highly skilled, very versatile, self starter to put in 15 hours a week.
15 hours @ $40ph = $600 in return for a powered site.
Does not compute does it

I have my doubts if that is even legal. I may be corrected here. But last I heard you can't have a "job" and be paid "in kind"
(of payment) in goods or services as opposed to money.)
And to me that looked like a part time job.
As opposed to being asked to water the pets and garden in lieu of somewhere to park and have some power.
Should b e offering a pay rate.

That arrangement is pretty typical old bloke, and even the national parks and councils get in on the act. Big concern might be whether you have any workers comp or accident insurance but that applies to housesitter situations as well.
No problem getting paid in kind but the ATO and or Centrelink needs it to be valued

Agree with you Tony LEE. There are a good many people out there who expect cheap labour simply because they under value those who are travelling and living on the road. Many seem to think that an offer to live in their paddock is somehow a worthwhile exchange for the dedication and expertise that is generally required to look after a place and the animals. This attitude needs to change.

Umm, I thought that was why you need to be "paid. How would Workers Compensation be calculated? 3 nights a week on an unpowdered sight if your injured for 12 months? And how much super, 1 night a month? Penalty rates? You get to use the BBQ lol
Still sounds dodgy, no way I would do it.

Maybe the parks that are charging in excess of $50 per night plus power are paying $40.00 for a general hand and complying with all other workplace and tax requirements.
You, or I should say we, cant have it both ways.

It seems to me that there must be plenty of people willing to take these jobs in return for a place to camp. I base this on the increase over the past couple of years in ads which seek to exploit travellers - expecting a lot & giving too little in return. All too often my wife & I look at house or farm sitting ads which we think expect far too much. But these ads keep coming which makes us think that some at least must find applicants.
Our house/farm sitting 'bio' (with an online house-sitting 'agency') includes the following wording & to date we have had no difficulty finding 'gigs' when we have wanted them, nor have we ever felt exploited by anyone. Either the deal is a win -win situation or we look elsewhere.
"We can turn our hands to most things. 'Pottering' without it being too onerous is preferable to 8 hour days".
Currently we are farm sitting on an ex tobacco farm 30 minutes from the nearest Coles, for 'as long as it takes' during this Covid 19 situation. For us it gives us 'somewhere safe to be in a pleasant warm climate, a comfy bedroom & all the necessities like power, gas, hot water, kitchen, freezer, fridge, toilet etc. Plus plenty of powered undercover parking which has made our vehicle maintenance easier. For the owners they are happy to have a trustworthy 'security presence' & this is our primary role. We keep the place clean & lived in, occasionally cut the grass & keep the few fruit trees watered (& eat the fruit). We also keep an eye on the 20 steers - contact owner if any issues. Feed chooks who keep us in eggs. In addition the owners give us use of a registered Toyota Hilux, (including fuel from the farm storage tank), satellite internet & tv is provided & they occasionally bring us meat from their station, plus other gifts, like vegie seedlings for the vegie garden we have created. We also accepted an invitation to spend a couple of weeks away camping on a family owned property up on Cape York. Our being here saves the owners anxiety about theft, & relieves them of the pressure to make frequent visits (12 hour return journey). Compared to many sits advertised which sound like full time jobs this one is easy & laid back, but they tell us that our being here has taken a huge pressure off their shoulders. Seems like a win-win situation to us.
Sits like this are not uncommon & if more folk realised this & didn't go jumping into exploitative jobs just to 'get something' perhaps there might be a reduction in exploitative ads rather than what appears to me to have been an increase.

Their is a good prospect for a caretaker and they are offering accomm and then some, near Marble Bar , would suit a veteran, but anyone reliable would do, it is for about 3 months, I believe the name of the camp is Meenatheena.. I would love to do it, and have applied to the WA gov. as an ex-serviceman, that needs to be there for the help of my state of mind at the moment, especially with other ex-servicemen. But I have been knocked back. This is not a position, where you will be flogged into the ground to work for free. It is a just a caretaker role for someone just to be there for security reasons and to have a presence. I have worked in caretaker roles and have been flogged into the ground, with no extra pay, would never do it again.

Sorry to hear that. The 3 months (& I suspect longer if wanted) would go into the wet season. It'd be hot & humid I suspect but the caretaker quarters has air-con and would be a great experience. The creek which flows through the property can become several kilometres wide in the Wet, which would be magnificent to see. The problem being in I am also in Northern western NSW ( Black Death Free Country), and would prefer to go via QLD and NT, but I suspect, I would need many of thousands of dollars to pay the QLD Government to transit thru there. Even if they didn't ask for the money, I suspect I would need to go to Brissy where it is filthy with the Black Death to quarantine for a awhile and pay for the privlige just to transit thru, from out here in the west of NSW where were are clear of the virus.

Knocked back by the WA govt so then lets beat up on Qld for their border closure.
NSW to SA to WA
or NSW to QLD to WA.
Seems the same to me, a border closure is a border closure.
It is a real shame that the NSW border was left open to Vic to allow a bloke into NSW to infect several people at the crossroads hotel. This is where your current problem in NSW all started.
The Qld border closure is no different to any of the other states same rules apply.

I am up very near the QLD border, as well as Marble Bar, is also up north in WA, so it would be easier, and much, much more cheaper for me to go north. But commo QLD, has nipped that in the bud until Feb 2040. I not bashing so much QLD as much as the stupid Priminister of the country of QLD, only lets you in if you are rich, a movie star, or 400 AFL players and their families. Is that fair? By the way, WA has given me a tentative yes now, and NT said I could come and transit thru, if QLD allows the same. But all over NSW in a hotspot according to her. If that is the case why do they let people in from NSW from bubble areas. I also travel into the bubble areas, after being at times a couple of hundred km further south of the bubble for medical reasons, The virus could quite easily get into the bubble areas after coming from further south, but she allows this to happen. Oh, I am sorry she has no authority on who get's in an out of the state, a public servant tells her what to do. I hope she remembers whom her boss is after this virus blows over.

bicyclecamper, if you have the money or can get a wealthy organisation to stump to the funds and can present a decent Covid-19 quarantine plan, you (and every other whinger) can quarantine where you like. But you will still quarantine for two weeks, just like everyone. No one is avoiding quarantine, no one. Just like anyone wanting to enter everywhere bar NSW and Vic.
