WOW! ACT Residents have graciously been permitted to visit QLD from next FRIDAY in line with the ACT's school holidays. It only aimed at air travellers because if you have been in NSW or VIC in the previous two weeks you will have to quarantine. Big B deal. QLD Chasing the money again. Its getting too hot, wet and uncomfortable from now on in QLD anyway so they missed the boat there.

Just wondering if NSW residents are still allowed to travel to the ACT doesn't that mean that ACT residents could still be transfering the covid risk to other states even if they fly ?

What about Canberra suburbs. What about places like Bungendore? Someone comes into Canberra from Yass, coughs, and goes back to Yass. Almost an impossible task. Maybe it's just looking after all of Canberra's public servants.
Simply a reaction to SA's move.

Let's pick on the states with the same or similar border restrictions but don't have an election in a few weeks. Does anyone here know if Tas, SA, NT or WA allow residents from NSW or Vic (or ACT with it's porous border) attend funerals or visit their kids in boarding school ?

Hell, Much ado about nothing.
I was Just saying that travellers from ACT should not get too excited about QLD saying they were no longer banned. Its only a scam by the QLD govt to get more money into the state by having ACT people fly in, to stay in their very expensive accommodation maybe go to their dangerous theme parks or beaches etc. No caravanning allowed unless I suppose you could hire.
Bit like NSW who grumble and curse ACT people going to their precious south coast every summer until... they are devastated by fires... They are then begging them to go and spend their money.
Goodness me. They are only public servants and not even they earn enough to keep QLD and NSW afloat.
So in effect this was a post about where you can travel and recent changes.

Just on all of the above. I say Thank you every day that I am above ground, and often when someone says "How are you" my reply is that "I'm still above the grass." I've had my share of health problems this year. Secondly, as soon as the school holidays are over hubby and I are going to go on a fortnight sojourn up around Monto to see the silo art, murals etc, spend a few days at a beach somewhere and just have a general trip around the countryside without going too far from home and making any great plans. The Mary Valley has there scarecrow festival in October so might see if we can find some of them (scarecrows) also. We'll just play it by the day. And yes we have a state election on the 31st October and we here in the federal electorate of Groom have a by-election coming up as well. Our member has resigned as his wife has been very ill again and he wants to put family first. Last week we had the motorhome serviced and next week it's booked in to get the gas inspected etc so everything is compliant and safe. So I think that covers a bit of everything. Cheers for now.

We may only hope and pray that the taxi driver who decided to work while contagious for as reported now nine days did not visit the ACT during his jaunt or even have a passenger that went there. As reported he spent his time basically in the southern part of the state so it is possible. We can only hope and pray that any of those he infected while visiting several venues of clubs and eating places do not come from of have visited Canberra.
This taxi driver saga is getting worse as apparently the taxi driver got the virus from picking up a virus patient from Liverpool hospital. Sounds like another effort of less than safe practices.
My thoughts are unless those travelling to Qld or to any state from the ACT are prepared to isolate exactly the same as those from other states then close the gate.
NSW is in denial, lockdowns and border closures work.

Angie read the 2nd post on this thread where I asked that very question why would Qld be allowing ACT residents entry even if they did fly up there - basically I and the others who made similar comments were accused of being just southern whingers. So let try and get this straight Qld out of their concern for others welfare made the big hearted decision to allow ACT residents to go up there and relieve their arthritis but some irresponsible taxi driver from Sydney has now put all Qlders lives at risk by knowingly working while he was contagious.
All I know so far is that the taxi driver may have been exposed at a hospital, he spent his shifts driving around the suburbs in the south west of Sydney, he ate at a few places in those suburbs on breaks and visited a number of venues including a couple on the south coast when he was off. The rest of what you wrote is either conjecture or an opinion. If you reckon we are in denial about border closures maybe (as hard as it will be for us) its better if you Qlders didn't come down here and expose yourselves to the risk - I know that people in NSW will feel a whole lot better knowing that you guys are safe up being protected by Anna.... Belmont Bear,
I read your second post 3 days ago when you first posted it.
I had similar thoughts at the time, which after the taxi driver fiasco that has now emerged, prompted me to post this morning.
My concerns are similar to yours, I too am worried about those who fly from the ACT may be carrying the virus.
I agree in the basics of what you said in that post. I can not see why you consistently call me out for my opinion even when we are both on the same tack.
There is no conjecture in my post, the information I posted re the taxi driver was as was reported by CH 7 this morning. This report can be easily googled and verified. I was actually typing while that news was going to air.
When the other states have this virus contained, when Victorias lockdown has worked as their figures are down to 11 today from over 700 and NSW says lockdowns are unnecessary, then the way I see it is NSW authorities are in denial, exactly how Victoria was 7 or 8 weeks ago.
I have family that live in NSW and I have family that live in Victoria and I can tell you if we may use them as a sample, my daughters family in Victoria is starting to feel a lot more safe than her sister in NSW.
Your thoughts on the outcome of an election have nothing whatsoever to do with what I posted above.
The Qld election will sort itself out. There are events which many Qlders dont agree with, me included. The heading of this topic is one of them which is funnily enough very similar to you post number two above.
Yes I did note that some made mention of southern whingers. That was not me.
We are all Australians and we all care about the welfare of our fellow countrymen, those in the states with good virus management dont want to see it decline due to bad decisions and poor management from any other state or area.
You comments toward me in many of your posts are unfounded and unnecessary.
I cant make what I type reflect your opinion.

I've also stated on this forum and others that (i) Qld could have handled some issues better; (ii) NSW has created more issues in the Qld/NSW bubble by acting politically; and (iii) Qld is acting no differently to every other state barr NSW and Vic. It isn't about Qld being "special", it's about a 2 states not playing the same tune as the rest.

Good points dabbler,
I have just heard on a news broadcast on CH 7 during a break in the football that apparently there are 9 unknown passengers who hailed the taxi during the drivers jaunt around the southern areas while potentially infected.
So we all could say nothing surprising about that because after all we have all hailed a cab at some time in our lives.
What I do find surprising is that NSW authorities are now going to introduce passenger logs for taxis and compulsory cleaning of the vehicles after each shift.
Wow! and this has not been in action until this has happened. Did the NSW authorities just think that this just would not happen to them?
No conjecture with this one, it is fact.
I am angry that the state authorities and even our Prime Minister are constantly saying how well this is all working in NSW as reported by the media.
I am angry and upset that my daughter is distraught with this current situation.
With some conjecture I would assume that many other NSW residents feel the same as my daughter.
