Well first trip towing with the jeep coast to bourke via a few other places very impressed and happy it is certainly a great tow vehicle and fuel figures were good about the 13.7 per hundred k's and the mchitch well what can i say if you haven't got one do yourself a favor go get one making vanning a more pleasurable experience.

You didn't say what sort of Jeep you have Mike but I'm assuming its a GC 3ltr V6 diesel if I'm correct I agree its a great tow vehicle pulls our van at around 2800kg effortlessly. I was interested in your fuel consumption though when cruising at 95kph on good roads, without any strong head wind mine is pretty consistent in returning between 15 and 16 ltrs per 100kms. The only time I have seen a big difference was into a very strong head wind heading west from Broken Hill when it was more like 20 and then with a strong tailwind from Morgan in SA back towards Vic it was down to the sort of numbers that you quoted. Our van is not as aero dynamic at the front as some of the full size vans I see on the road so I'm sure that the wind resisitence wouldn't be helping us. I have also been considering fitting a Mchitch but I didint know how it would go with the WDH that Jeep says you need to use when towing over a certain weight, I was also a little concerned about what effect extending the towball further away from the rear axle would have, glad to see that it doesn't seem to be an issue..

Sorry Mike I should have read your other post about the effects of using the Mchitch looking at the topic line I thought it was a duplicate, I don't really want to start the argument about the effects of moving the towball download again.

Hi BB yes 3litre diesel my van loaded 2300kg avg fuel 13.2 to 14.9 speed avg 90 to 105 very happy as my previous tug dieselmterri was about the same but I expect a little better when I get some k's on it only 3000 at moment but handles very well and my wife loves the comfort a first in any of our previous cars .

Thanks Greg I have been thinking about investing in a Mchitch for awhile using one with the WDH was my only concern. Mike you're probably running about 500kg lighter than I am so those figures make sense, we have been really happy with our GC in the 2 years that we have had it.
