Just received our next Mobile A/C from Telstra today 24/12/2020 for the period ending 20th December 2020. TOTAL DUE by 12th January 2021 For $145.00 Includes a Late Payment Fee of $15.00
Paid our last bill on time. And the bill before that ..... on and on.
We rang them, and waited Waited Waited till the Lass came back to us. Sorry about the wait. I see. Don't know what happened there. We will give you a credit. No no no.
Send us the correct account with the $55.00 thanks. No can't do that, its an automated generated bill. Just pay the $55.00 and all will be ok.
So we asked for a case number . No: 0480600.....9 digit number, and You can email us back when someone there, can get off their backside.
Merry Xmas from Telstra
We think it's time for some Transparency Via an enquiry into bills and late fee's and Towers.
If ONLY we could get the same reception accross the Australian outback, with another carrier.
Have a ringing good time all.

Have been with Boost for about 5yrs, they are probably one of the best "not telsta" providers, but you do not get full telstra all the time. It is good in most areas but accasionally in isolated areas when others have service from telstra I don't. Regards Ian

Not 100% sure either Outlaw, but full signal 4g in Mt Barker. Only changed over 4 months ago after Telstra wanted to put price up to $65 per mobile per month. ( mine + Jaynes)
Now pay $25 per month each, all calls, sms and 10 gb data per month included, they say they use most of the Big T's network, seems ok at the moment.
Aldi and Boost similar I suppose.

No issues to date for about 2 years.

for those that dont wish to open links i will post the statement I am referring too .
Boost Mobile has the best of both worlds, offering great value inclusions on the full Telstra 4G network. Unlike other MVNOs operating off the wholesale network, Boost has the same coverage that Telstra proper does, but boasts lower costs, and long-expiry options. You'll also nab data-free streaming for Apple Music on eligible recharges.

I am/was a rusted on Telstra customer but changed to Boost for my main iPhone 6s (then iPhone 10) a few years ago after a flirtation with a totally unsatisfactory (away from the coast) Vodafone network based provider.
I did a fair bit of research first & confirmed that Boost is not Telstra owned & does use the full Telstra 4G network & also uses much of Telstra's customer support services like service activation et al and billing systems, perhaps even call centers. I am familiar with this sort of arrangement having been responsible for providing such services to other Telstra competitors.
Note that 4G uses a range of frequencies & protocols from sometimes the same tower to provide service. The ability of the handset to operate on all of these frequencies & protocols may explain why one works & another doesn't. There are sites where you can find out what frequencies & protocols are used by the various network owners/providers at each Tower and others where you can find out what frequencies & protocols your handset supports. It's not a simple matter. eg. a particular iPhone sold in the US may not have the same frequency compatibility as the 'same' model sold in Australia.
Belong does actually belong to Telstra and MAY use the full Telstra 4g network. I don't think so. Given the price advantage of Boost I didn't bother to follow up the question of full or part network use by Belong.
5G is of course another and very complex matter. I didn't follow that up as I, like most of us don't have a 5G compatible handset. As others have mentioned, given the limited penetration of 'true', or indeed any, 5G in the bush, now and probably for a fair while into the future, it is not a consideration for me.
I am delighted with my Boost prepaid service but if I was full time on the road and often in the bush I would probably look at a cheap Optus reseller for our back up mobile. Optus has been looking at bush areas without Telstra coverage and installing towers in those locations.
The market, like the technology, is ever changing.

Hi and Best wishes for the festive season.
With regard to Boost service, it is exactly the same Telstra service except for 5G.
I have covered this in previous topics on Boost on this forum. As a transport company we ran phones side by side with both Telstra and Boost before changing to Boost at a huge saving over the Telstra cost.
To Wanda and Yobarr,
I suggest you read Cupies post above with reference to your statements re service.
The third paragraph explains exactly what happens and why some phones have different reception levels when in the same location.
When I joined this Forum there was ongoing banter regarding Boost with some on here being quite adamant that the original promotors of the Boost service on this forum were wrong and that Boost could never be Telstra.
Unfortunately the ones that were promoting Boost were in the most part, overidden by the noisy but incorrect majority.
My decision to provide our company observations and results of using the Boost Service was mainly because of the lack of actual fact compared to inuendo and guessing with regard to the Boost service from some people on here.
It is good to see that now for the most part, the truth is out there.
The other suppliers, Aldi, Belong, etc only use part of the full Telstra service and therefore will in many areas, work the same as Telstra but there will also be areas where service will be lacking.
As I have said in previous posts on the topic of Boost reception, as a transport company we had to be sure before just jumping in and changing over.
To the OP, enjoy your new found savings with the changeover to Boost.
Regards
Angie

Hi when I first changed to Boost I had terrible internet and was about to go back to Telstra. Phone support gave me a tip. If boost internet is not working properly try this
Connections
Mobile networks
Access point names
: Reset to default
Also check network mode you are on 4 g connection.
The speed difference was amazing.

I had a mirror image problem to the OP and with Telstra's main competitor. They insisted I pay the incorrect (and huge) bill then they would give me a refund. Could not get across to the person on the other end of the phone that I was not going to pay the incorrect bill and it was their responsibility to work it out. They threatened me with disconnection if I did not pay the bill as presented. One phone call to the Telecommunication Ombudsman and corrected bill was in the email. I have never had a problem with Telstra and get a discount for my previous employment with the PMG department. The point to be made is that there appears to be horror stories about all the telecommunication companies, is there any that are trouble free?

Hi Gang,
We had problems with the Tel...ra bill for one of our mobiles, compared to what we paidSouthern Phone for the other.
So we swapped. Easy to do. Just had to wait for the new SIM card (same old number) to arrive.
Same coverage as Tel..ra, same quality of "line", much cheaper, plus always an Australian person on the other end should there be queries.

Wife is with Boost and I am with Amaysim who operate on the Optus network.
Optus definitely do not have anywhere near the coverage of Telstra.
We have found that my wifes phone has exactly the same coverage as she did when she was with Telstra.
We went into it quite a bit before swapping, and Boost is the only provider who operate on the full Telsra network. Aldi and Belong do not.
We have saved $50 a month getting right away from Telstra and no billing issues.

I have been with Telechoice for a number of years now, post paid. It uses Telstra wholesale, but as we do not venture way off the coast very often, we have found their service first class. Coverage is good, their plans are cheap, and on the few occasions I have had a problem the issues have been sorted easily, with a minimum of wait time either on a phone call or "Live Chat"
Providing you don't need service back of beyond, I couldn't recommend them highly enough.
As well as this, unused data can be rolled over at the end of each month. On my $21.00 p.m. plan, I can Data Bank up to 50gig.
