The Leader of NSW is of the opinion that the self righteous amongst us will do as they are asked on this day. I am rather skeptical on this thinking as we have seen during this pandemic that people have continually pushed the limits with gatherings.
Was the decision to go ahead with the fireworks and asking the self righteous to stay at home a joint decision with the Chief Medical Officer? With the virus currently spreading in Sydney I see this as a slap in the face to everyone who has done the right thing during this health crisis.
I hope that I'm wrong but this has the potential to get nasty.

Irresponsible.
NSW aught to have a good look at how Vic managed their outbreak & all other States' borders should be closed to all of NSW.
Yet another failure by the NSW administration is likely to plunge us all into yet another wave of infection.

Unfortunately Gladys is in denial when it comes to management of this virus.
The other Premiers have laid out rules which were and can be enforced. To expect people to comply wish wishes is at best, a dream.
While I hope it doesnt happen, I feel that NSW may be heading for a covid disaster similar to Victoria.

VIC has had 3 new cases yesterday breaking the 60+ bays of no cases, resulting in a rules change from 5.00pm today. 30 people inside private homes down to 15, sorry party goers and masks are back indoors when away from home. That's quick action. I only hope VIC is not about to see a 3rd wave.
I'm stay'n put longer.
Keep Safe out there everyone.

Hi Kebbin,
You are not WRONG. 100% correct. Its started. Our Daughter runs a large Nursing home here in Sydney. She has been directed to stop all entries into her Faculty.
We just posted in I degess about Face Masks. God help us. No vaccines here till the end of March. The nights start to cool again by March end.

Nah, it'll all be OK that's why NSW is also planning to run a test match. Clearly the NSW people and their government are stupid! Did they not notice the grief which Victoria recently suffered!? Hard border announced from Victoria and a very sensible decision.
Spot on.
re the cricket .. both of the remaining tests should be played in Melbourne. Unbelievable that the next is to be in Sydney with the seemingly out of control outbreak there & then to compound the error by having the last one in Brisbane.
I'm surprised that the Qld. Premier hasn't yet returned from holidays to countermand this crazy decision & to shut the border to all of NSW at the same time.

I don't know if 18 cases out of a population of 8 million is "seemingly out of control".
But then those in Qld listened to and believed in everything Johannes said for more than twenty years so who am I to argue.

Pretty poor attitude Dmaxer. The good health of Qlders. Has nothing to do with an ex premier that about 25% of people voted for. 35 years ago too.
Its a shame goodtime Gladys didnt show some leadership instead of trying to dictate to other states.

Well said Teo . Joe was an amateur in the art of conning the people compared to good time Gladys. But yes we all know its all Qlds fault , Qld let the ruby princes passengers run a muck , Qld hired the randy security guard in vic , hell it was even Qlds fault that nsw was going to loose the cricket test to vic . If people really cared they would note every time Gladys starts slinging off at qld there is another story about her dodgy boyfriend or her dodgy disappearing emails, its just deflecting.

It seems that I am in agreement with a senior NSW Health spokesperson who said on TV last night that her New Year's Resolution would include something about getting this outbreak "Under Control".
We consider that it is out of control not because of the numbers but because of the wave of outbreaks outside of the original North Shore cluster.

I have no issue with borders being closed and think we need to follow the directions of the state premiers who are acting on the advice of their various medical advisors.
I do get somewhat tired of listening to unqualified armchair experts who need to use highly emotive terms such as "slamming borders shut" or playing the victim role whilst moralising about their state being the only one doing what is right.
It is Australia's problem and needs to be dealt with nationally. If that means closing borders and restricting movement then so be it.

DMaxer you were the one who brought a premier that has been dead for 15 years into the discussion .I would class that as highly emotive wouldn't you

Hi all, I think I'll close this now. Although state borders opening and closing affect the grey nomad lifestyle, please refrain from discussing the political side of this issue. We do not allow political discussions on our forum as in our experience, these always lead to bad feelings. Thanks for your understanding.
