I've been searching to buy a used pop top caravan, and during my search I inspected a van that had an Alko 10" Ratchet Jockey Wheel. I'm just wondering what experienced caravanners think of them and are they as good as they seem to be?

I do believe you have placed the question in the wrong area.
Try the General area..

They are an adequate mover on level paved surfaces providing you mount is in a position that allows handle to have enough room to "Pump" the handle - can't be used if mount is inside A Frame.

As Possum has already said, any type of Ratchet Jockey Wheel, are OK on flattish firm ground
I borrowed one off a friend, to see if I could use it to put my caravan, onto my front lawn
As it was sloping uphill, I found that the wheel just kept slipping on the grass

Relatively low load on the jockey wheel relative to the gross weight means it won't take much to stop it. Dead flat dead smooth concrete but then of course you can move it by hand.
Wouldn't take much of a slope for the van to get away from you so you need to be quick on the hand brake (if it works)
