Does any one use a Vacuum Sealer, while traveling, to keep meat fresh if its kept in a chiller box , we are heading off for a week, we usually take frozen meet with us but were hoping vacuum would work better
and if you do can you recommend a good one that works ,

We have an Aldi one, just need to be careful when sealing , but have had snags , burgers and steak for about a month at about 2 degrees. Much better than frozen.

We have had a Kogan unit for 7+ years & haven't had any problems at all. We buy our sealer bags from Kogan as well.
We bought the vacuum sealer primarily to save space in the small fridge/freezer we had at the time. You will be surprised how much space you save.
You may also have a Butcher who will vacuum seal your purchases into meal lots for you at no or very little charge.
Most Butchers in country towns will do the service for you.
Cheers and safe travels.

I have the Aldi Ambiano it works well, suction vacuum sealers are the go you just can't do liquids very successfully, I have thought about partially freezing some soup/stew to see if that works or not.
The bees knees would be the chamber vacuum sealers but they would be to bulky for the van although they would be great at home before leaving on a trip, albeit tad expensive.

I have a Primus from BCF , it is 12 volt and 240 volt and works well, the plastic roll can be a PITA at times as it gets to the end and has a crease in it We will vac meat and freeze for a trip, meat will last 12 months in the freezer, I would buy on the way from local butchers , but the quality can be poor and price very high ,so I buy in bulk from home and just freeze to travel with I have not tried fish yet ,but I am told it works well , so next trip to Pt Lincoln SA I will buy some and try bob
