Hi I am new to this site . How life changes so quickly . I was made redundant last Monday been in the job for 11 years . Any way my wife and I are selling the house , Boat has just been sold . We have a 16 foot Regal Comfort Tourer and are looking at moving up to Bundaberg and buying a small property so we can use as a base home . Any suggestions on a good caravan park to stay at while we look for a house to buy . It could be 3 - 4 months until we find the right property . We also have a very small dog . Any advice would be greatly appreciated .
Welcome to the forum, as I am on the West coast, I know nothing of Bundaberg Caravan Parks
Sorry to hear you have been made redundant

Welcome to GN's Spud, You don't state where you are moving from - have you experienced living in the tropics? It can be daunting for those from the Southern States.
Are you looking for a permanent home or a home base to travel from? Remember Bundaberg is in Cyclone and flood prone area.
Personally I would go West to Mt Morgan or Biloela where climate is a little more pleasant.
There are many far-western towns where land prices, some with basic houses can be purchased outright under $K100.
Not knowing your overall plans or why Bundaberg is your stated preference.
I hope that your redundancy was a choice, as sometimes it can be a great reason for a total revamp.
Regarding Caravan Parks - just type Bundaberg Parks in Google and make a couple of phone calls.

Thanks for the replies .
Redundancy was not expected and was the 3rd option offered . At 59 I thought I had at least another 5 - 7 years of work left in me .
We thought about it and decided to retire and start travelling while we are still young enough to do it and enjoy it .
We are from the Gold Coast so Bundaberg is only 400 km away so still close to our sons .
I know that it gets hot up north but the plan is to travel around 8 - 9 months of the year and spend winter back up there .
My wife is a Nurse and can easily get work for QLD Health .
Also we can pick up a very nice older home ( flood free area ) for around 250K and rent it out while we are travelling around .

Hi there, Haven't stayed at a CP in Bundaberg for quite awhile but we have stayed at Woodgate Beach CP which is 57.5klms south, by road, according to Google and we quite like staying there. Right across the road from the beach. Cheers.

We have stayed in Bundaberg a few times over the years and we find the Bagarra Caravan Park is quite good.
The first time we were given a site next to a walkway and that was a bit tight for room but the next time we asked for a site further down the back and they are generally quite large.
It is across the road from the beach although it is a drive to the shops.
If we went back we would stay there again.
Regards
Angie

Hi and welcome.
Not to bad of choice where to live.
We just the other week spent 10 days at Lighthouse Caravan Park, Burnett Heads at the mouth of the Burnett River, easy 15 ks from the Bundaberg city centre. A rural area very pleasent, local food market, post office, hotel.
I have not been there in floods, what I have seen is low lying areas only, be aware of where you buy, as for cyclones, real cyclones up north a bit further.
That caravan park was a winner.

We spent 5 months at the caravan park just south of Bundy last year. Not sure of the name but it was about 10 mins to the city and the owners were excellent. they also have ensuite sites that are quite reasonable.
I think the weekly rate was about $280 at this time of the year.
