I don't know, but one thing is for sure fuel has gone up from $1.37.9 in just one day to $1.69.9 in our area alone. So 32 cents extra in one go. Must be because of easter , and maybe a freighter stuck up a canal somewhere.

We paid $1.299 yesterday for E10. When I went inside to pay the sign board outside jumped to $1.679. I was the last get the low price. The thing that annoys me is that the price reflects today's prices and not the price they actually paid for the darned stuff.

The average price for petrol worldwide is $1.40 per litre at the moment so we don't do too bad but I think the price cycle is bs and remains because this allows price gouging over easter and xmas etc.

I do not think that politics had anything to do with Covid-19
I think that it is just the new normal
Covid-19 breaks out somewhere (it could break out anywhere), and not far behind it, comes some sort of ring fence/lockdown, to try and contain it
I do feel sorry, for all those who have been caught up, in ring fence/lockdown scenario, and may/may not, have their Easter holidays spoiled
But, in my opinion
It is what it is, and perhaps the easiest way out, in the long run, is to just knuckle down

So forever we can expect to be locked down every time there are just a handful of cases?
I can not think of a better plan, than to ring-fence/lockdown, to contain a community outbreak
The problem is, (going from memory here), Christmas 2019, there were a few (handful), cases of Covid-19, in a far away land
These handful of cases, spread and reached other countries, and eventually Australia
Some countries decided, (for whatever reasons), not to ring-fence/lockdown, until it was very nearly too late
The main problem of not ring-fence/lockdown, for a handful of cases, is that we do not know, if these handful of cases, will keep spreading
All we know for certainty, is that by the time someone has some symptoms, they may have already passed it on, to someone else

Hi Bruce...I suspect, and indeed expect,so.You might like to consider the analogy of rabbits breeding? In one year,a family of two rabbits (he and she) can grow to more than 50.When you get one infected person holding a party for 25 "mates",all hell will break loose.Cheers

Tony Bev covid is going to be with us for years. If not forever. So if we follow your strategy there will be no economy to pay the taxes that pay for all the things we come to expect. We have learned to live with and manage many diseases. Why can't we learn to live with covid? I see this attitude as "I'm ok and bugger everyone else".

Fact. There was no party for 25 people. This is the problem. They believed all the BS that has been fed to them and cant sort the facts from the scare campaign.

Guys..we have a vaccine. Roll it out and this virus, the same as the flu will be under control.
In QLD we vaccinated 43000 front line workers including nurses and doctors and yet we allowed 2 unvaccinated health professionals to treat covid infected patients.
We only have ourselves to blame for this new outbreak!

A general misconception is that the vaccine will stop you getting infected with the virus. IT WILL NOT! It will reduce the severity of the infection nd also reduce the probability of spreading the disease to others, but you can still catch the virus even after getting the jabs. And, of course, the virus is mutating all the time, so by the end of this year it is quite possible that the vaccine will not be effective against the newer strains or the virus which are yet to come out. But bring on the vaccine ASAP - hopefully it will offer us some immunity.
A lot of criticism has been laid here and elsewhere about unnecessary lockdowns eg in rural NSW, WA, SA or anywhere where there were no cases reported. Imagine the effect on a small town of say 200 people if someone got the virus. Virtually all the town population would get it as well, and that would totally overcome the local medical services ability to treat these people. The only effective way to even start to control this virus is to ISOLATE it, and a lockdown is the most effective way to minimise exposure to strangers and possibly infected people. Yes - lockdowns are a damned nuisance and cost heaps of money in lost production etc, but what is the cost to the community of there is a USA style outbreak here? We are in for a long hard time yet to come....
The only way to improve the management of this virus is for the Commonwealth to take over all management of the Health portfolios in all states and apply a consistent uniform policy Australia wide.

erad I agree totally with your last paragraph. As for lock downs don't tell those in the UK that they work. Don't tell those in NZ they work. etc. No one wants to face up to the facts of what lock downs cost. Stress. Suicides. Missed doctor check ups. Broken families. When we have decided to live with and manage covid we will still be living with all the long term consequences. It's a case "I'm alright and to he'll with everyone else". As pointed out above. The vaccine isn't designed to stop the spread. So what do we do? Lock ourselves away until all contagious diseases are eliminated?

Question Tony Bev covid is going to be with us for years. If not forever. So if we follow your strategy there will be no economy to pay the taxes that pay for all the things we come to expect
Answer By ring-fencing/locking down, the places where Covid-19 breaks out, it gives other Covid-19 free places, a chance to keep their economy ticking over For example, when Western Australia closed it borders, to everyone who did not have a permit, and ring-fenced the locals to stay within their geographical areas The main economy did not stop, some businesses which relied on overseas/out of state tourism, were hit hard.
Question We have learned to live with and manage many diseases. Why can't we learn to live with covid?
Answer Covid-19 is not a normal event I believe very recent history has shown, some of those countries which tried to live with it, did not do very well from having it The quote (or similar words) "It is a hoax, it will go away when the warmer weather comes." From the greatest leader, of the greatest country, comes to mind
You are entitled to your opinion of I see this attitude as "I'm ok and bugger everyone else". But you are reading me wrong, I always try to put out facts as I see them My opinion is, that it is those who are willing to forgo the health of their country, to keep their wealth, who are the "I'm alright Jack and bugger everyone else"

When there are only a few cases is the time for a 3 day lockdown. As explained lots by Qld authorities, a short lockdown gives the contract traces time to do the contract tracing before the resource is swamped. Yes, lots of small business will be hurt, money wise. Small business would be devastated if the outbreak got out of control. Nobody around me is whinging about the lockdown because the alternative is far, far worse.

I just find it interesting that every time a there is a major Australian holiday coming up we get a lockdown. You can bet things will go back to normal immediately after and the next big scare will be Anzac Day.
Or is this payback to Aust govt for ending Job Keeper?
Just think what life will be like when they have eliminated all the coffee shops. Won't be long at this rate.
Wendy's, Muffin Break, Michel's & Donut King have disappeared from our local shopping mall. In fact a lot of the businesses that were familiar old Australian businesses have been replaced. Cannot buy a toasted cheese sandwich, a thick shake or a hot dog anymore. Cannot buy those frozen drinks anymore either. Dreadfully unhealthy stuff and I'm not allowed to have them anyway, but....apparently as a population, we are not getting any healthier or skinnier.

Folks who aren't affected don't mind the lockdown because they have skin in the game. State's, and the feds, have had 12 months to get their house in order. Vic said they had the "gold standard" then it backfired. Only a short while ago QLD said there would be no more lock downs. Governments and public servants are making it up as they go. And NONE of them have lost 1 cent while they are stuffing around. WAs economy looks good only because of Job seeker and Job keeper. And to that iron ore prices. Then rest of their economy is all smoke and mirrors. Covid has become a political tool.

Listening to the Qld Health Minister this morning and she said that the last outbreak of Covid in Qld can be traced back to two people.
Eight cases linked to one return traveller from Europe and eleven cases linked to one return traveller from India.
These two people and those who let them in have cost thousands of Aussie jobs, thousands of cancelled travel plans, tonnes of food that was ordered for catering being wasted and an entire state having to re adjust activities and an entire country having to re assess the hotspot situations and apply restrictions as required as well as countless other problems and costs. They also placed entire medical and hospital staff at risk. They caused tens of thousands of tests for people. This should also include the outbreak in Byron Bay.
All cases inevitably are traced back to people coming into this country from overseas. Close the gate until the vaccine has had a fair go with the roll out.
A blind man could see the practicality in this. Having the international borders open cannot be worth it.
Being grounded is only a part of the problem
