I am looking at the possibility of buying a 2013 disco 4, and notice that the rear cargo doors has the bottom half fold down. Does this interfere with the caravan coupling (when connected) and haw much difficulty in fitting cargo drawers and / or fridge slide.

Hi
Had a disco 4 and towed using a mitchell bros tow hitch and Mchitch auto coupler. Towed a 22' 3.4t ATM van and the set up worked well and was easy to hitch up and no dramas with the lower tail gate.
regards
Bob

The same as above, I have a D3 and use a Mitchell hitch in conjunction with a Hitchmaster DO35 hitch and have no problem lowering the tailgate.

I have a D4 and replaced the original hitch with what is called a mitch hitch or as mine is a 4WD industry hitch. LinK:
This hitch sits up behind the bumper bar and in the middle of the bumper bar. With my bigger tyres it does not foul the spare. which the OEM did. I have a D35 coupling and tail gate can drop down. The 4wd industries one looks the same as the Mitch Hitch I(dont confuse this with the Mitch coupler- different caravan coupling) but also comes with a tow tongue, tow ball and shackle bolts, and is cheaper.
If you use the OEM, it works fine, but sits a bit low and can become a bit of a plough when doing exists out of creeks etc. Also if you have bigger tyres than OEM, will foul them.

Have a Disco 4 MY11, no problems with btm gate with DO 35 off road hitch. It is jolly handy for a work platform, long as I keep it pretty with cloth protection from dirt etc.

Hi Keiran,
The spare wheel carrier was made by 4x4 Intelligence who ceased business long ago due to partner disputes, pity because apart from the latching assembly is a well built carrier, certainly removes the problems of the underneath storage.
Hi Peter67, I'm lost what are you looking at?
Cheers RichardK

Just a question Richard K, Why is there a sort of "Collar" on the tow ball tongue. Already the Mitch Hitch sits further back than OEM and then I notice yours is at least another 30-40mm further back. My "L" tongue sits right back on the hitch so there is less overhang. I just say this because I am sure our friend Yobarr will make comments about over hang, rear axle weights etc etc. Yours just seems to be a lot further back. It may be because yours is a genuine Mitch hitch and they do not supply the tongue, whereas $WD Industries supplies the whole lot.

Ah yes, the collar has the mount fixed to the top of it for the stonestomper rail.
