Get the Coronavirus app and that will give you links to all current restrictions and requirements imposed by each state.
We recently went NSW to SA to Vic to TAS to Vic to SA to NSW and had to get entry or transit permits for all states except NSW. All are easy to get and not always checked to best just to get them so you can display them on your phone or tablet

We are currently travelling through the River Murray regions of NSW, Vic and SA. Google 'Entry into SA, Victoria, NSW etc' for an explaination on what is required. NSW does not require a permit to enter from other states. SA and Vic require entry permits which are easily obtained online. Although the permits last for 14 days you will require a new permit if you re-enter that state from a different location than stated on the original permit. You will need the individual states QR Codes to register when you enter a business in that state. You can download these states QR code apps for this. The SA and NSW QR apps work well, but the Vic system is terrible. Business's can use either the Vic Govt app or a commercial one and not all phones will recognize that code unless you have their app. You then have to enter your details manually. We tend to apply for a permit the day before entering a state and approval is instantaneous via email.

This is one area where you need to Google things a few days before you plan to cross a border. If things change it could happen very quickly. I'm currently bouncing around the Vic side of the Murray and found the Vic process quick and easy (Vic's requirements for entry permits has never changed, the changes are whether checkpoints are in place or not). As I understand it, the Vic govt QR code app will become mandatory soon but the few places I've needed to enter have all offered a manual check-in. Same with NSW although the NSW govt app allows other people in your party to check-in for you.

Not sure if I heard correctly but on 7 news this morning they said you need a permit to enter NSW from VIC. I know you need one to enter VIC from NSW because I did it two weeks ago.

From 6am, 12th May, a permit is required to enter NSW from Vic if you have been in Greater Melbourne in the previous 14 days. That a quick paraphrase and I recommend a Google search for more precise info. If i can work up the energy, I'll go for a walk around Waygunyah and a coffee then maybe see what changes appear at the border crossing. Like NSW to Vic, application appears to rely on your honesty.
