Hey there Nomads, my partner & I are looking into buying a Pantech truck (US 'box truck') & converting it into a motorhome. We're only in the very initial stages at present & if anyone can offer any advice on purchasing a vehicle, ideas about converting it, or if someone has done a similar conversion, we'd love to have a chat with you & pick your brains, as it were, to find out any do's or finds we might need to consider. Looking forward to hearing from you!

One thing to solve will be how to soften the suspension up enough to stop the contents from being rattled to bits.

Welcome to GN's Stephen, There is currently a few pantechs being used as defacto MH's - Mainly because the owners are still utilising the vehicle as a tool of trade vehicle (consider this as a tax incentive). Very easy to use angle brackets to locate normal house furniture, a flat pack kitchen bench with removable plastic dish, Porta Potti, in screened off area. Usually light trucks from Suzuki or similar. You would need to come up with a suitable methodology for accessing the elevated truck tray height.

A pantechnicon van, usually shortened to pantec, was originally a furniture removal van drawn by horses and used by the British company "The Pantechnicon" for delivering and collecting furniture which its customers wished to store. The name is a word largely of British English usage. Trucks from Suzuki are Izusu Branded - they also make small vans with Suzuki brand.

I wish anybody good luck if they go searching for a 3,4 or 5 tonne Suzuki truck in Australia.........!! (I have owned Isuzu products - cars, utilities and trucks since 1966 - and have a collection of classic Isuzu cars presently ) I have also owned a Suzuki and a Honda "mini truck" in the past.
