Hi
Does anyone know much about the Rent assistance form that is required from centrelink for permanent travelling as we live in our van. They gave me some forms but just wanted help with it if possible.
Can't seem to get anyone on the phone.

Welcome to GN's Sue,
I don't personally know any thing about Centrelink systems or forms - I do know that they are nigh on impossible to get on the phone, or get any useful help on-line.
If you speak to your Federal Local Member's office even send them an email - Centrelink drop everything to answer their requests.

I get rent assistance as we live in our van permanently. What I do is every couple of weeks send a copy of the site fees paid to Centrelink via the MyGov website. If you want to talk to someone I often find if I ring at 8.00am I usually get to speak with someone within 15 or so minutes. Talk to them and get everything set up.

WE applied for our in a rural centrelink, got the required info straight away. Also, they gave us a phone number (which we have not yet had to use) for ölder Australians".
Was told you were guaranteed to get through quicker.
Also, another hint is if you are on the eastern side of our country,to ring late in the afternoon. As Centrelink has to cater for all time zones, you should get someone quicker than if you ring in the morning. Again, I have not tried this
The phone number for ölder Australians is 13 23 00
Hope this helps

To get rent assistance do you need to be paying rent?

To get rent assistance, you first have to find out if you qualify, personal wealth and assets may be over the requirement. You have to then submit a form and a copy of the camp fees at every change of address. I claimed rent assistance (being part of the gimme brigade) for three years, used a laptop computer, and scanner together with an internet connection to send in the details. Had very little in the way of problems.

Well there you go, learn something every day. I wasn't aware that Park fees qualify as rent.
