Late last week I decided to download Wikicamps as we will be traveling again soon.
I goggled "Wikicamps" and a suggested site came up. I clicked on the download section and was then asked for card details, yes I know!
I felt safe because the site stated I would NOT be charged until after the free trial period ended, not sure how long it was or what costs were involved.
I proceeded, yes I know now, I then checked my bank account and found I was charged $39eu ($64au), not once but twice.
I have now cancelled the account with this mob in the eu somewhere. They have sent an email to tell me my monies will be refunded. After a week, still no refund.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Only download this app through your selected app store, not through a suggested site from goggle or any other search engine.
The lesson was hard learned at this point, always check the address bar when checking out anything on the web and do NOT give your card details unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing.
Stay safe
Glenn

Hey Farmhouse, thanks for the post and sorry about being scammed, something I really hate is scams(with a passion) one of the things I did years ago when I decided that buying online was becoming a preferred method was to get another card account when I intend to do a purchase I transfer the exact amount into that account and then use the payment option linking that card, I also use paypal and other online guaranteed payment options where possible, I never trust anyone! also check with your bank and ask if they can stop or reverse the payments and block this company/person from using your details, keep an eye on the transactions for further unauthorized transactions as scammers often sell your information to others leading to the need to close that account or card.
Be safe with your money and account information ;)

Don't bother waiting, report the scam and see if you can get your money back, or at least some of it. I only pay with PayPal if I'm buying online these days.

Have to agree with using PayPal.
I wont buy anything online if they do not accept PayPal.
Report it as that may just save someone else from being scammed and if you paid by credit card contact your bank. They may also be helpful in compensation or at the very least, protect the balance of your funds in that account if there is any money left.
Good luck with in Glenn

Got to agree about Paypal - I am, these days, most reluctant to put my credit card details on-line.

I will let you all know what the final outcome is. I forgot to mention that the website I was redirected to was called euware.net (some sort of cloud storage site from what I read)
Cheers Glenn

Just a heads up, for anyone thinking of downloading WikiCamps
I downloaded it onto a tablet, a few weeks ago
The official Australian website is wikicamps.com.au I am led to believe, that it is on some sort of Google play, (which I know nothing about)
They do not ask for any money, until the 14 days free trial is up I paid the next day, once I knew it would work on my tablet
The cost was less than $9 It was certainly not 39 Euro, ($64) I will assume that anyone charging more than this amount ($9), is some sort of scam, or just profiteering
I agree with others, that it is much safer to pay with PayPal I gave my banking details to PayPal, once and once only, I will never send my banking details to anyone else
Edit to say, forgetting me manners
Hope that this is useful info for anyone in the future
Also congratulations to Farmhouse, on his new RV
