Our Jayco Discovery front has 2 sections around the boot lid.
Our Jayco Discovery front has 2 sections around the boot lid. The upper section appears to be fibreglass with a "clear coat' that is lifting/peeling which I want to repair/renovate. I have peeled all the clear coat off and am ready to proceed. Research seems to indicate that acrylic paint is to be used as follows: 1. Bonding primer spray can 2. Acrylic paint spray can 3. Clear coat.
Has anyone any comments or suggestions as to whether this is the correct procedure and if so what brand of paint is recomended.
The lower gray section need repainting. There is a suggestion that paving paint may be the answer. Any suggestions here?
cheers
Alan

On my discovery its the same grey and I cleaned mine well masked it up and painted it with an exterior acrylic waterbased house paint. It was about 2/3 years ago now andits been to Nth Queensland and back as well as other places and and no sign of any problems. The colour I used was monument it is a colourbond colour and is a good match. If you want I can post a photo later today. I posted on another thread on this page about this same topic. Cheers

Hi bomberal,
Welcome too to a great forum - I trust you will get lots of answers to questions you may have, share your adventures in caravanning. The "Search" tab is the opening to many issues - particularly in the "Advanced search". Your request is two posts above one that some of us posted solutions to, - on a Jayco Destiny caravan. Both the Destiny & Discovery vans are cousins/brothers - one is supposed to be smarter than the other.
While I painted the grey panel with a same colour paint, all I have done on the white is to polish it with a quality automotive polish. Has your van been over exposed to the sun to cause the peeling?
On my last Nissan Patrol, the clear coat on the scoop over the intercooler peeled. I went to Supercheap & got some excellent advice on how to restore it. The resultant job was as good as new! The older (a bit younger than me) Supercheap assistant "knew his stuff!"
