There are grubs in all corners of the world. Ric moffet reply about campsite thieves said in part *most aussies are not brought up right*. I am insulted by this comment and upset that it even got published . If you think so little of us Aussies, maybe pack your bags and go back to where you came from.

Anyhow a mischievous playfull wombat got hang up on the backpark and is now suffering with this thing caught around it's body unable to return to it's wombat barrow and being laugh at by the other wombats.
Sorry Rocket, journalists piss me of to.

Stealing property is rampant in most Countries of the World it seems, perhaps it is communication of offences by social media that makes it seem so. I have been to many Countries that crime is more prevalent mainly due to extreme poverty and wars - this is the Country I choose to be living in.
The other elephant in the room; *most aussies are not brought up right* I strongly disagree with. Whilst modern Australia allegedly has lost it's propensity to being a bunch of church going wowser's born of convict stock, true. Modern Australia is an amalgamation of people's from the rest of the World ( first Nation people excluded). By this fact alone one could assume that modern Australia's moral compass is pointing in the same direction as the rest of the World. All the reds, whites, coloureds, tumbling around in the same wash. Sure some of the colours may run a bit, but out on the line in the sunshine, it is all basically clean.
I am unfamiliar of the Author's origins, nor do I care.

I'm certainly not insulted by this comment. I have Zero respect for his opinion and simply put the fool in that group of people whose disappearance from the gene pool would leave the world a better place. We have no knowledge of how this person came to be so bitter about other people so I guess we should just send some pity his way.

We are all ozzies (maybe some born in different countries , but we all class ourselves as ozzies) and it should have been worded as
"some ozzies instead of most ozzies". Most ozzies have got good moral values but there are some (few) ozzies who don't give a $#it
and in my opinion these are the ones who deserve a good flogging. Strong words but true.

I find it endearing that forum members are discussing the comment made by Ric Moffet but studiously avoiding giving any indication that you actually know that he is a regular contributor to this forum.
No doubt he will be along soon to explain his point of view. Judging by his comments on previous posts he is a forthright man and not too shy to speak up.

I will comment on the comments here, about my comment on the comments section of the Nomad news section. Why I made this comment so hard hitting was, while we were away last weekend, a thieving attempt was made on our camper, out at the place where we were camped. The excuse the potential thief gave was, he was told to come here to pick up a camper, and our camper was the only one here, he believed ours was the right one. Donna said he was an Aussie with no accent. This "thief" left in an extremely aggressive way, almost crashing his ute on the exit. 3 days later in the afternoon, after we arrived home, and I parked the camper, inside our yard, in our in town house, someone attempted to steal it again, but were thwarted by the gate being locked, then they went across the road and tried to steal one of the two campertrailers that our neighbour owns. As our street is a dead end, and we are at the dead end, Milo my dog, always lets us know someone is up here driving around, so I came out, and crossed the road just as the Commodore was reversing down my neighbours drive way to where the campers were parked., he shot out of the yard real quick. but parked down at the entrance to our street for 10 minutes.. Just about 5 minutes later my neighbour returns and I let her know what was happening. We have since locked our yards up as well as our campers. This is the reason why I said, what I said over at Nomad News. It has disgusted me, that you cannot get to have "quiet enjoyment" of your property anymore. You cannot relax and just have some fun, as their are people out to steal from you all the time now, And it is Aussies doing the stealing. I don't know how many Aussies are stealing but, I would put it down to at least 60% that have thieved or are willing to thieve sometime in their lives. Whilst we were camping out at the campground, their was a Motorhome get together, their were 6 rolls of toilet paper in the male toilets, on the first day, and not 8 hours later, the next morning, their were none. This motorhome group were less then 8 vehicles and although they had toilets on board they used the camps toilets instead. Their was no need to steal the paper. I had to come home to feed my animals each day, and had to bring out toilet paper for the communal toilets, But even this was thieved, so just carried enough pieces of paper to do the job. This thieving that other Aussies are doing is getting out of hand, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

It is not often that I concur with Ric's thoughts, but on this occasion I would have to agree. In the last week, using Bush (Free) camps in my travels I have twice encountered human waste (sh-t) on the ground in the camp when council-erected "bush" toilets (long drops) were within 50 metres.Perhaps they felt the urge at night, and were scared of tge dark? And then there was the used feminine sanitary product lying on the ground when there were council supplied bins 50 metres away. And I won't even mention the piles of empty drink cans and bottles, along with cigarette packets, heat'n'eat meal boxes, empty food cans, and other general rubbish.Often this crap is under trees that would make good photo subjects, but eventually I tired of cleaning up after no-hopers.It takes little effort to be civil, and to act in a civilised manner.Cheers

Let me say Ric, I understand your angst regarding your experience with attempted theft of the camper.
That said, to extrapolate your experience to 60% of the population being thieves or wanting to be thieves is just a ridiculous and unprovable guess or opinion, and when combined with your unproven allegation of the motor home users stealing the toilet paper, is the reason why your comment on the article has prompted some derision.
You may well be correct, but it is unfair and unreasonable to make those sort of observations without solid proof.

We must be lucky, never had anything stolen and we free camp 70% of the time.Once we never bothered putting anything away, but now we don't leave certain items out when we leave the van for an extended time.
Most of or nearly all of the spots we go to are clean and tidy when we arrive and nearly everyone looks after and respects the camping area and it surrounds.
Only a couple of times had to clean up some broken glass, don't think I will post anymore favorite spots, hate to see them abused.

Regarding the comment highlighted above, unless the dreaded Phantom Toilet Paper thief was in the vicinity, and on duty that night,it is highly likely that the occupants of the motorhomes that were on site are the guilty party. Never did I bother getting my Private Investigators' licence, and I do understand that all 'evidence' is circumstantial, but common sense would soon see the finger pointed at the people in the motorhomes.Like others,I have been present when these bankers tell all and sundry how clever they are for flogging the toilet paper, and pumping liquid soap out of the soap dispensers into their own containers.Lowlifes, indisputably so.Cheers
Well, their were only motorhomers there, at the same time as us, for the first 2 days, of toilet paper thieving, and it sure as hell was not us doing the thieving. Who else would have been doing it?

Ric,
Did you see who did it? Based on your own far fetched 60% guesstimate of felons or want to be felons in Australia, AT LEAST 3 of them are innocent.
You say it wasnt you. Perhaps the motorhomers left believing it was you! Would that be fair, having them tell all their friends about the people in the camper stealing toilet paper? Of course not! So my point is, without solid proof, you cannot make any other statement than a great deal of toilet paper was used, or disappeared while you were there. Forget Chriss protestation of common sense, because without evidence, common sense is worthless.
Sure Ric, be upset about your recent experience, but use facts, not opinion, to convince others of the correctness of your argument. Isnt that your argument Chris when others disagree with you about weights?

And that is what I said Chris. Use facts as you do, to prove a point or argument, and you will be on solid ground.
Now whether you consider my comments illogical worries me not, but the comments Ric and yourself make regarding the motorhome owners and the missing paper are opinion, not fact, even if your application of common sense and Rics protestation of his innocence suggest you may be correct. That is a fact, as no one saw who did it.
As I also point out, Rics fact that 60% of Australians are thieves or would be thieves means at least 3 motorhomers were innocent. Using opinion such as this can lead to assumptions that are hurtful to others, as Rics original response to the article did to some.
The point is, especially if you are going to make accusations against people of the sort Ric has made, then be factual, not opinionated!
